Ms. Kathleen M. Dayton is the Program Coordinator for Fire Science and Emergency Services Management and Emergency Preparedness Management at Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. She has been involved in the emergency services field since 2003, when she became an Emergency Medical Technician with her local volunteer fire department. She later became a Paramedic. She is a certified Maryland State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) instructor and is currently an EMS Captain at the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to her administrative responsibilities, Ms. Dayton teaches courses in the emergency services field as a primary instructor in the Fire Science, Emergency Medical Services, and Emergency Preparedness Management programs. The Emergency Preparedness Management degree program was developed in 2009 by Ms. Dayton and an advisory committee of specialists in the field of Emergency Management, and celebrated its first graduate in May 2011. The Emergency Preparedness Management program offers both a certificate and an Associates of Science degree. The program is offered totally online (certificate); the degree can be completed mostly online, except for lab science and speech courses.

Ms. Dayton received her M.A. from Trinity University in Washington, DC, and her undergraduate degree from University of Maryland University College in Adelphi, Maryland.

Montgomery College (MC) is a 2-year, non-residential multi-campus institution and serves nearly 60,000 students a year, through both credit and noncredit programs, in more than 100 areas of study. MC is one of the most diverse community colleges in the Nation, with students from more than 175 countries.
