World War I – Total War Constructed Response (CR)

“The Great War” was unlike any war ever fought and was one of the most devastating conflicts in history, in terms of both economic and human costs. New technologies and advances in weaponry led to devastation on a scale never seen before. The war also took a toll on Europe’s economy. Governments and civilians tried to balance nationalist and patriotic sentiments during the war with the reality of casualties and civilian hardships. Use the notes from your annotated timeline and this lesson to inform and support your constructed response.
