Read Aloud

SUMMARY OF THE MILWAUKEE, WICOMMUNITY INFLUENCER EVENTHELD ON 13 DECEMBER, 2019 Here is what our partners are doing to get ready for the March 21-Day Read Aloud Challenge:The Milwaukee, Wis., community sponsored an event held at the Milwaukee Country Club that brought together 250 community leaders to view the “No Small Matter” documentary, a film sponsored in part by Read Aloud 15 MINUTES. This film shows the importance of educating parents and caregivers. Providing early education to our very young children, and educating their parents and grandparents about this priority, leads to a stronger society. Reading aloud to children beginning at birth is one of the most important ways to lift a family and an entire community. Children who are kindergarten-ready are far more likely to be successful in school, work, and to be productive, capable citizens later in life.?Read Aloud 15 MINUTES’ leadership sat at the Milwaukee event in awe and appreciation for what local advocates were doing for the youngest in their community. Imagine the possibilities of such events popping up all over the country! Be part of the movement: Sponsor a Community Influencer Event! The Milwaukee Budget:$200 per table of nine or $25 per person ($2,000 total), with two table captains, six guests and one facilitator.$8,000 sponsorship (split with two organizations).TOTAL COST: $10,000 which covered video set-up, lunch, and small favors for guests.Suggestions:Perhaps you can support an influencer event in advance of your 21-Day Read Aloud Challenge effort. Every day a child is read to improves his or her opportunity for success.?It could be a formal event (as in Milwaukee) or maybe a picnic. The important thing is to include everyone.Who would you invite: ?School leaders United Way leadersBoys and Girls Club leadershipDay care and literacy leadershipUniversity leadership. You want to hold an event early so that they have plenty of time to generate excitement for the 21-Day Challenge in their school, center, or neighborhood.?We attach a checklist on how to get started.Contact:You can contact Kendle Bryan, Director of Partnerships, for more information at kendle@ or (703) 408-0677?. ................
