Initial Call

P1: Hi. My name is Isabella and this is my mom. A lot of people are concerned about all the sickness that’s been going around lately. Would you like to see a time when there’s no more sickness?

H: No, dear, I don’t think that’s possible.

P2: Well, that’s understandable because sickness has been around for the most of the time that humans have been alive on earth. But there’s an interesting promise in the Bible that Isabella would like to share with you.

H: OK.

P1: Isaiah 33:24 says: “No resident will say ‘I am sick.’ The people dwelling in the land will be pardoned for their error.” According to this, what will happen to sickness in the future?

H: Well, according to this, it’ll be gone.

P1: Yeah. Won’t that be wonderful?

H: That would be nice. I’ve never heard that before.

P2: You know, in many places, one big cause of sickness is that people don’t have enough food to eat. But the Bible promises an end to that problem too. Isabella and I would love to come back next week and show you that promise.

H: OK, I’d like that.

First Return Visit

Psalm 72:16

P1: Hi. It’s good to see you again. This time, we want to show you what the Bible says about the end of world hunger.

H: OK:

P1: Please notice what the Bible says at Psalm 72:16. “There will be an abundance of grain on the earth; on the top of the mountains it will overflow.”

P2: According to this verse, how will the problem of world hunger be solved?

H: Mmm...It says ‘there will be an abundance of grain.’ I guess that means plenty of food.

P2: Exactly. In fact, notice it says that instead of shortages, food will overflow. Never again will anyone get sick or suffer because of not having enough food to eat.

H: Interesting.

P1: I’d like to show you how we know about these good things. They’re highlighted in this book ‘What Can the Bible Teach Us?’ Here on pages 4 and 5 are the promises we’ve talked about and a lot more.

P2: If you’d like to read this book, we’ll be happy to leave it with you.

H: OK, I would.

P1: And the next time we visit we can talk about this one. It will help us know what hope there is for our loved ones who have died.

H: OK, I’m looking forward to it.

Second Return Visit

John 5:28, 29

P1: The last time we were here, we said we’d talk about a hope for our dead loved ones. Have you ever wondered about that?

H: I have. It’d be great to see them again.

P2: We feel the same way about our loved ones who’ve died. And that’s why the Bible’s promises are so comforting. Isabella has a scripture for us on this point.

P1: John 5, 28, 29 says: “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” So what will happen for people who’ve died?

H: Well, it says they’ll hear a voice and come out.

P2: Yes. People in the memorial tombs, or the grave, will come out. In other words, they’ll come back to life.

H: That sounds good but if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

P2: It’s good to be cautious about what we believe, but the Bible gives us solid reasons to believe these promises and the book that Isabella gave you last week explains why we can trust that these things will really happen. How about if we come back next week and use that book to start learning more about what the Bible teaches?

H: That sounds good.
