ENGINEERING BACKGROUND

• Energy systems design and development:

Aircraft engines and rocket propulsion systems (specifically, LO2/LH2), cooling of combustion chambers and gas turbine blades, thermal barrier coatings, chemical and physical hydrogen storage systems, cryogenic systems

Heat and Mass Transfer:

Modeling, designing and investigating various heat transfer devices including high thermal conductivity composite materials for various temperature control applications, convective and advanced phase-change heat sinks, passive desiccant coolers, heat pipes, etc.

Thermal design and reliability analysis/testing of MRI system components, including gradient and body coils, superconducting wire assemblies, liquid helium vessels, multi-layer vacuum insulation, etc.

Developing advanced jet propulsion fuel – to – hydrogen converters, novel electrode materials for advanced rechargeable batteries, solid oxide oxygen generators and fuel cells
