1998 Early Intervention for Social Competence Project

Co-author (with Cheryl Clay) on $15,000.00 grant to promote social competence and reduce early anti-social and aggressive behaviors in preschool children at the Fort Lewis College Child Development Center. Funded by the State of Colorado, Youth Crime Prevention and Intervention Board.

1995 Using Computers to Increase Parental Involvement in Early Childhood Education.

Author of $4,850.00 grant to link parental investment in education with developmentally appropriate technology. Funded by the U. S. West Foundation.

1992 Child Care Services to Low Income Families.

Grant coordinator on $68,000.00 project to provide child care assistance to low income families. Received October 1, 1992 from the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department.

1992 Comprehensive Family Services to Teenage and Low Income Parents.

Co-principal Investigator on $41,195.00 grant awarded to coordinate a comprehensive system of preschool and support services to families. Grant received May 1, 1992 from the New Mexico Human Services Department.

1992 Northern New Mexico Resource and Referral Project.

Co-principal Investigator on $20,000.00 contract to provide resource and referral information for child care and social services to parents in San Juan County. Contract awarded April 10, from the New Mexico Human Services Department.

1991 Southern Ute Family Service Center Evaluation Contract

Principal Evaluator on $90,000.00 3 year evaluation of the Southern Ute Head Start Family Service Center Project, a one million dollar research and demonstration grant awarded to the Tribe from the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.

1991 Project for Related Services Personnel Serving Rural Language Minority Children.

Co-principal Investigator on $184,000.00 grant to provide early childhood education and child development coursework to public school teacher assistants and to operate an intensive summer language enrichment and support program for Navajo, Hispanic, and Anglo preschool children. Grant No. H029F10049-92 received July 1, by the U. S. Department of Education.

1990 Navajo Parent Reading Project.

Principal Investigator on $125,000.00 training grant to provide early intervention and instruction in child development and reading techniques. Grant No. SAE 11 A-89- NCDA-002 awarded by the New Mexico Department of Labor.

1987 Early Childhood Program.

Awarded three year, $179,000.00 Grant from the New Mexico State Department of Education to develop a model instructional program for undergraduate students in child development and early childhood education.

2000 Fort Lewis College: Featured Scholar

1992 Recipient of the Allison Faculty Excellence Award for outstanding performance as an educator (San Juan College).

1991 NISOD Award for Excellence in Teaching. One of three recipients from SJC College faculty recognized by the University of Texas, Austin-Community College Leadership Program.

1990 Outstanding Contribution Award received from the Department of Head Start, Shiprock Agency.

1989-90 Excellence Award. Received the excellence award for exemplary teaching awarded each year to one of San Juan College's full time faculty.

1989 Eminent Scholar. Selected by the New Mexico Commission on Higher Education as one of two faculty members from San Juan College to participate in the New Mexico Eminent Scholars Program, a statewide faculty exchange.

1988 Exemplary Instruction Program - Honorable Mention. The Early Childhood Education Program (directed by Michael C. Anziano) was one of six programs in the nation (out of 600 nominations) to be recognized as "exemplary" by the National Council of Instructional Administrators.
