Wisdom of the Elders- This public radio series, available in audio and text, features elders, historians, storytellers, artists, and leaders from thirteen American Indian Nations along the Lewis and Clark trail. These elders share their history, stories, culture, and music in a series of hour-long radio broadcasts.

Smithsonian Institution: American Indian History and Culture- This website offers an extensive list of resources related to Native American heritage and culture. Teachers and students can find links to Internet resources, selected Smithsonian online exhibits, and recommended reading.

Heritage Month on Smithsonian Global Sound- If you’re interested in that broadest of all musical categories, “world music,” you won’t find a better site than Smithsonian Global Sound, which contains 40,000 tracks from the Smithsonian Folkways archives. Albums and individual songs are available for purchase and download. For American Indian Heritage Month, Global Sound offers free audio tracks and videos featuring Native communities from the Arctic to the Andes. Lesson plans and student activities are included.

Indigenous Geography- Indigenous Geography welcomes visitors to explore universal themes from the perspectives of Native communities throughout the Western Hemisphere. Indigenous Geography presents a multi-layered view of indigenous ways of life, and of issues affecting contemporary indigenous peoples. View the site in either English or Spanish. Includes lesson plans on teaching cultural diversity.

Catlin Classroom- Take a virtual journey to meet American Indians of the 1830s with artist, ethnologist, and showman George Catlin. This site compiles paintings, historical documents, and commentary from contemporary experts so you can explore the intersections of two cultures, both in Catlin's time and today.

Anthropology Outreach- The National Museum of Natural History's Anthropology Outreach Office webpage features educational activities and links to information about Native Americans including Native American languages, healing and medicine, rituals and religion, and games.

Portal to Texas History- This in depth resource from the University of North Texas offers readings and lesson plans about the Native Texans.
