1 Year Limited Warranty

It is intended that this product be installed only by professional electric motor service personnel who have read the instruction sheet or manual in its entirety.

Due to our lack of control over the installation and/or the final use of this product, no warranty is expressed or implied other than the following:

This product is warranted to be free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. Non-operative or presumed defective PhazPak converter must be shipped to distributor for evaluation along with the PhazPak warranty card with the information required on the warranty card provided.

It will be the sole discretion of PhazPak to determine if this product is defective. Defective PhazPak converters will be replaced at no charge.

PhazPak phase converters found to be damaged or inoperative as a result of improper installation or from being exposed to extremely severe operating conditions will not be replaced.

The sole liability of the manufacture under this warranty is limited to replacing the defective product. PhazPak will pay no damages or penalties to anyone due to machine or motor malfunction or losses incurred resulting from installation or use of the PhazPak phase converter.

1. Motor must reach full speed within 3 seconds or less

2. At full speed, and no load applied, the current draw on L1 and L2 should be below nameplate amps.

3. If the current draw on L1 and L2 are above nameplate amps without a load turn off motor and seek technical assistance.

Use chart to determine which model is needed for your motor. Motors at or below 900 RPM drop one model size. Always follow run capacitor chart according to horsepower. Run capacitor can be connected in parallel to achieve MFD rating.

Caution:

Open master breaker and disconnect all leads from power source before installation or servicing to avoid electric shock hazard.

Follow all (OSHA) (NEC) requirements.

Only qualified electric motor personnel familiar with the operation of PhazPak phase converters should perform installation and servicing.

R3 Model Converters are not recommended for motor applications that require 100% of the motor rated horsepower continuously such as refrigeration, fans, and pumps. These problems can be solved on many applications by simply reducing the motor pulley size by at least 20 percent. If reducing the motor pulley size is not applicable then see PhazPak Heavy Duty Rotary Converters.

7. Fuse L1 and L2 at 1.5 times nameplate amps with dual element time delay fuses.

Read Carefully

1. Install converter and capacitors in proper enclosure.

2. Make sure motor is connected for 230 V.

3. Connect converter and capacitors as shown.

4. The phase converter becomes part of the motor. The converter and capacitor must be wired directly onto motor leads. Do not connect any switchgear between the converter unit and the motor. Wire converter and capacitor to motor side of starter contactor. Never wire to line side of starter contactor or other starting devices.

5. Use L1 and L2 to operate all electrical switchgear.

6. If your machine uses a starter with three phase thermal overload you must change your thermal overload to single phase or bypass thermal and simply fuse your motor.

Don’ts

1. Instant reversing -not recommended

2. Do not use on explosion proof motors.

3. Do not use on Life Support Applications.

4. Do no use on flywheel application or long start-up applications.
