Clinical Director of Youth Services, Therapist, Clinical Services Consultant or Research and Evaluation: EPIC Youth Services, Yakima, WA. Work with adolescents. Some of whom are state dependent, deemed to be at risk, including gang involvement and substance dependence. Group and individual therapy, treatment plans, casework and casework planning, working with families and youth, working with collateral treatment providers, testing, assessment and treatment, training personnel in mental health issues and adolescents, grant writing and agency planning.
1999 to 2004
Therapist and Associate: Anger Control Clinic and Bill Dietz Counseling, Yakima and Ellensburg, WA. Ran groups on anger management and domestic violence, or individual counseling. I also did domestic violence and anger management evaluations for the courts. Monitored the terms of probation on domestic violence perpetrators, worked with families and domestic violence victims. State certified domestic violence treatment provider.
2002 to 2004
Workshop Grantee- Solutions Based Processing Workshop (Assault Prevention):
Awarded grant from Juvenile Justice Advisory Board in Kittitas County to do
workshops with juvenile offenders on solutions based processing to decrease the
risk of assaultive behavior. Work with juvenile offenders and their parents in
a group therapy situation. Coordinated services with Kittitas County Probation Department, the Department of Social and Health Services, Alcohol and Drug Dependence Services, and the Victim Offender Mediation. I wrote the curriculum and implemented the program, which has been funded on an ongoing basis. I incorporated students from Central Washington Unversity as mentors in the workshop.
2000 to 2003
Social Worker 3: Department of Social and Health Services, Kittitas County.
Worked as Children’s Services supervisor on an interim basis. Worked in several programs in the Children Services programs including Child Protective Services- investigating child abuse, assessment of risk, system intake, working with runaway youth and the crisis residential center, liaison with law enforcement, the prosecutor’s office and testifying before the Superior Court; Child Welfare Services- Home studies, case management (mental health, physiological problems, etc), working with therapeutic support providers, working with children and parents, working with foster parents, etc. I also briefly served as interim supervisor over all programs during her maternity leave, supervising clerical staff, personnel issues with social workers, working with outside service providers and contract provision review, etc. Supervisor: Lynnette Shaw.

Police Officer: Mission Police Department, Mission Texas. Worked part time
supervising station lock up, undercover narcotics work, street patrol and coordinating gang crime intelligence. Assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division.
1987-1989
Coordinator of Emergency Services: Mental Health Services of Franklin and
Williamson Counties, Inc. Coordinated mental health emergencies with law enforcement agencies, hospitals, nursing homes, etc., as well as being chief liaison with other community agencies and media. Responded to "go out" and "walk in" mental health emergencies (crisis intervention) and substance abuse services. Consulted with various internal programs (Substance Abuse Services, Youth Services Bureau, Case Coordination, etc.) on emergencies such as psychosis, sexual assault, detoxification, etc. Screened clients as to risk rating and refer them to appropriate services, including Adult Outpatient Services, Substance Abuse programs, etc. Schedule and supervise night
contractual emergency workers. Scheduling day emergency back-up workers. Acted
as Vice-Chairperson on the Quality Review Subcommittee-guarding the corporation
against liability. Public relations and adjunct member to the Southern Illinois University of Medicine-Community Psychiatry Residency Program. Training Corporation staff in nonviolent crisis intervention techniques. Services contracted through mental health center to others in training on nonviolent crisis out intervention.
1988-1989
Night Emergency Contractual Worker: Twenty-four hour emergency mental health,
substance abuse and youth service coverage in a two country area. Duties
include crisis intervention, or mental health and substance abuse assessment.
Secure placement in appropriate setting group home, detoxification center,
psychiatric facility, follow up counseling, etc.
1986-1987
Counselor: 608 House, Jackson County Community Mental Health. Worked with the
chronically mentally ill and dual/diagnosed at a half-way house. Taught
independent living skills, behavior programs and evaluation, etc. Clients
included people suffering from schizophrenia and the drug/alcohol dependent.
1982-1987
Deputy Sheriff: Macon County Sheriff's Department, Decatur, Illinois. Street patrol, warrants, civil services processor, bailiff, supervision of jail, etc., Trained in firearms, arrest, search and seizure procedures.

Correctional Officer : Pontiac Correctional Center, Illinois Department of
Corrections. Only worked there for approximately a two month period.
Supervision and security in a maximum security prison. Worked in both
segregation and lockdown situations. Training included participation in the
Correctional Officer Training Academy (Springfield, Illinois).

Intern Probation Officer: Placer County Department of Probation. Lake Tahoe,
California. Duties included pre-sentence investigations (On previous criminal
history, drug abuse, etc.) And reports to the court, supervision at juvenile
detention center, supervision of probationers and parolees and juvenile traffic.

Governor's Juvenile Justice Task Force 1993- Proposed grant involving students
acting as mentors with at risk youth. Proposal made it to the short list, but
was unsuccessful.
Faculty Research Award: 1989-1990, University of Texas-Pan American. The grant
consisted of $2,500 to pursue research in the area of police management of
suicidal person.
Faculty Research Award: 1990-1991, University of Texas-Pan American. The grant
consisted of $1,650 to pursue research on the criminal justice system in Mexico.
Small Grant Competition: 1991-1992, Central Washington University. $700 to
pursue research in Mexico.
