1. IDEA Part B Grant

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education authorizes the submission of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Grant, IDEA, Part B, application for the 2017-2018 fiscal year, accepting the funding allocation of $155,403 for the Lenape Valley Regional High School District. 2. No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Grant

 

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education authorizes the submission of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Consolidated Formula Grant District Number NCLB372615, application for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.  The funding allocation will be ratified when that information is received at the next Board meeting.

4. School Vandalism, Violence and Substance Abuse Report

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education asserts that it has fulfilled the legal obligation to present the school violence and vandalism report for the 2016-2017 school year at this public meeting of the Lenape Valley Board of Education, as stipulated by P.L. 2001,c. 298. (Attachment on Google Drive)

5. NJSIAA Membership – 2017-2018

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education adopt the following membership resolution for the New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA).

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education approves, as mandated by the guidelines established by the NJSIAA, the official start of practice dates for the fall athletic season of the 2017-2018 school year as listed below:

8. Summer Enrichment

RESOLVED, That Student #ESY-13 be permitted to attend Celebrate the Children, 230 Diamond Spring Road, Denville, NJ 07834 as part of this student’s individualized summer educational program for the extension of the 2016/2017 school year as recommended by the Child Study Team. The cost for this program will be $5,425.00. Transportation: N/A. Classification: AUT.

RESOLVED, That Student #ESY-14 be permitted to attend eight (8) summer reading classes per his IEP during the month of July at Lenape Valley Regional High School.  The cost of the sessions is not to exceed $800, and transportation will be provided by the student's guardians. Classified: CI-Mild

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That Student #ESY-14 be permitted to attend Employment Horizons, as part of this student’s individualized summer educational program for the extension of the 2016/2017 school year as recommended by the Child Study Team. The cost for this program will be $1,500.00. Related services for this student will be billed separately. Classification: CI-Mild

RESOLVED, That Student # 15 be permitted to attend Sage Day School, 215 Hill Street, Boonton, NJ 07005, as part of this student’s individualized summer educational program for the extension of the 2016/2017 school year as recommended by the Child Study Team. 4. Travel Reimbursement Policy

WHEREAS, The Lenape Valley Regional High School Board of Education has recognized school staff and Board members will incur travel and related expenses related to and within the scope of their current responsibilities and for travel that promotes the delivery of instruction or furthers the efficient operation of the school district. The Board of Education shall comply with the requirements of N.J.A.C. 23B-1.1 et seq. and Board Policy 6471 for the reimbursement of school district employee and Board member travel and related expense reimbursements; and

WHEREAS, N.J.A.C. 23B-1.1 et seq. and Board policies require Board member travel and related expense reimbursements to receive prior approval by a majority of the full voting membership of the Board, and require staff member travel and related expense reimbursements to receive prior approval of the Superintendent of Schools and prior approval by a majority of the full voting membership of the Board; and

9. Sussex County Educational Services Commission Membership 2016-2017

WHEREAS, The Educational Services Commission is an agency established in Sussex County pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:6-52 for the purpose of carrying on programs of educational research and development and providing educational and administrative services to public school districts as may be authorized by rules of the New Jersey State Board of Education; and

WHEREAS, The Lenape Valley Regional High School Board of Education desires to become a member of the Commission;

BE IT RESOLVED, That the Lenape Valley Regional High School Board of Education approve the terms and conditions in the agreement previously sent under separate cover to become a member of the Sussex County Educational Services Commission for the 2017-2018.

10. Participation in Cooperative Pricing Agreement with Educational Services Commission of New Jersey

WHEREAS, N.J.S.A 40A:11-11(5) authorizes contracting units to establish a Cooperative Pricing System and to enter into Cooperative Pricing Agreements for its administration; and

WHEREAS, The Educational Services Commission of New Jersey, hereinafter referred to as the “Lead Agency,” has offered voluntary participation in a Cooperative Pricing System for the purchase of goods and services;

WHEREAS, On June 20, 2017, the governing body of the Lenape Valley Regional High School Board of Education, County of Sussex, State of New Jersey, duly considered participation in a Cooperative Pricing System for the provision and performance of goods and services;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows:

TITLE

This resolution shall be known and may be cited as the Cooperative Pricing Resolution of the Lenape Valley Regional High School Board of Education.

AUTHORITY

Pursuant to the provision of N.J.S.A. 40A:11-11(5), the Assistant Superintendent for Business is hereby authorized to enter into a Cooperative Pricing Agreement with the Lead Agency.

CONTRACTING UNIT

The Lead Agency shall be responsible for complying with the provisions of the Local Public Contracts Law (N.J.S.A. 40A:11-1 et seq.) and all other provisions of the revised statues of the State of New Jersey.

EFFECTIVE DATE

This resolution shall take effect immediately upon passage.

THE SUPERINTENDENT RECOMMENDS:

RESOLVED, That resolutions numbered 1 through 14 be adopted as presented:

1. Appointment – Teacher of English

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education does hereby approve the emergent hiring of Mr. Edward Suczewski, Teacher of English, having attested that he has not been convicted of any disqualifying crime pursuant to applicable statute, at a salary of $53,900, BA, Step 4 for the term August 28, 2017, through June 30, 2018, subject to compliance with N.J.S.A. 18A:6-7.1. Upon ratification of a new Lenape Valley Education Association contract, an adjusted contract will be issued with the negotiated salary guide. (Attachment on Google Drive)

2. Appointment – Teacher of Chemistry

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education does hereby approve the emergent hiring of Mr. Christopher Frangipane, Teacher of Science, having attested that he has not been convicted of any disqualifying crime pursuant to applicable statute, at a salary of $52,500, BA18, Step 1, for the term August 28, 2017, through June 30, 2018, subject to compliance with N.J.S.A. 18A:6-7.1. 3. Appointment – Color Guard

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education does hereby approve the emergent hiring of Ms. Gabriella Gambino, Color Guard Advisor, having attested that she has not been convicted of any disqualifying crime pursuant to applicable statute, at a salary of $3,312, Schedule C, LVEA contract, for the term July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018, subject to compliance with N.J.S.A. 18A:6-7.1. RESOLVED, That the Board of Education approves Summer Enrichment Teachers for summer employment as specified below at the rate of $40 per hour.

5. Summer Employment – Training

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education approves IEP Direct Training for Child Study Team members, as specified below at the rate of $40/hour, from 8:00AM to 3:00PM, for 2 days:

7. Special Summer Projects – 2017

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education approves the following for special summer project hours. The individuals listed will be compensated at the rate indicated and used on an as needed basis, not to exceed the hours indicated.

• Transportation Coordinator and Bus Maintenance – Mr. Robert Nusbaum – $20 per hour, not to exceed 40 hours

• Summer Custodians – Mr. Anthony Grogan and Mr. Patrick Togno – 28 hours per week at $14 per hour, for 7 weeks beginning June 26, 2017; Mr. Maximus Stanwick – 28 hours per week at $9 per hour, for 7 weeks beginning June 26, 2017.

8. District Bus Drivers

10. Instructional Aides

11. Resignation
