Staff Visit Community for Meet & Greet

MONDAY, AUGUST 19 Our amazing staff will be coming to visit our families in the community, and they will be bringing popsicles to share! Come and meet us!

2:10-2:30 p.m. Hayfield Farm Park

2:40-3:00 p.m. Lake Cove Dr. & Dogue Forest Ct. @ the tennis courts

3:15-3:35 p.m. Banks Neighborhood Park @ Old Telegraph Rd. & Helmsdale Rd.

3:45-4:05 p.m. Worsley Wy. & Ridley Ct. @ the grassy area off Summer Ridge Rd.

Classroom Assignment & Back to School Extravaganza

THURSDAY, AUGUST 22 Classroom assignments will be viewable after 6 a.m. on August 22, 2019 in SIS ParentVUE for

parents/guardians who currently have a SIS account. Activation letters for new parents/guardians were emailed to the enrolling parent upon confirmation of registration. If you are a parent and do not have a SIS account, you may contact HayfieldESOffice@fcps.edu to request your activation code, which will be sent within 48 hours of request.

KINDERGARTEN ONLY

*2:00 p.m.

(Kindergarten teachers will NOT be in the classrooms after 3:00 p.m.).

GRADES 1-6:

*Session 1 - 3:00 p.m. *Session 2 - 3:45 p.m.

Content is identical in Session 1 and Session 2. A map with classroom locations will also be available. Students are invited, with a parent, to find and visit their classrooms on Thursday.

(Grade 1-6 teachers will NOT be in classrooms after 4:30 p.m.)

? Students with missing immunization requirements or school entrance health physicals must submit those requirements before they are able to be placed in a classroom or begin school.

? Parents of students who do not meet these requirements will be called to bring their student home on the first day of school, and enrollment cannot continue until the requirements are met.

? Please understand class assignments may be adjusted through the month of September if we continue to have changes to our student enrollment.

School Day Schedule

MONDAY, AUGUST 26 is the first day of school. The school day begins at 8:25 a.m. when students are released to their classrooms. Daily announcements and instruction will begin promptly at 8:35 a.m. and students will be dismissed at 3:20 p.m.

? Students should not arrive to school prior to 8:20 a.m.

? Students who enter the building on or after 8:35 a.m. are considered tardy and must be walked in by an adult and signed in.

We ask that all students able to ride the bus or walk to school do so to avoid a back up in the Kiss-andRide loop.

Student Rights & Responsibilities Booklets (SR&R)

Normally, the SR&R booklets are included with Back to School packets. This year, the school board has revised the booklets and they will be delayed in their arrival. You will receive them in Thursday folders in September. The front page (signature page) must be signed by a parent and each student and sent in to school no later than October 25, 2019.

Breakfast and Lunch

Menus are included in the Back to School packets. These menus, as well as information about funding your child's lunch account and the online application for free or reduced-price meals can also be found here.

School Supplies

A list of recommended supplies is available in the school office as well as here on our school website.

Emergency Care Updates Needed

No later than August 15, emergency care information should be updated in WeCare@Home via FCPS 247 Learning. Address changes may only be made by the school office. If your address has changed, please submit new proof of residency and fill out a new registration form for each child.

Opt-Out Booklets

If you choose to opt your child out of anything (media/website/yearbook/dire ctory, etc.), these forms are available online and should be submitted no later than

September 23, 2019 ONLY if your intent is to opt-out.

Hard copies of these forms are also available upon request from our front office.

School Bus Transportation

Bus information can be viewed by parents via FCPS 24/7 Learning on or around August 19.

Students living in the Hayfield Farm development are walkers. It is important that you remember the route number (i.e. HA-2). This will be posted in the bus window. You should arrive at your bus stop ten minutes before your scheduled pick-up time since schedules may vary slightly from day-to-day.

Transportation Dismissal Form Required

It is important that we know how you will get home from school each day beginning with the first day of school.

This form MUST be completed and given to your classroom teacher at our Back To School Extravaganza.

School Bus/Child Care Bus Riders

? Kindergartners walked to buses by teachers/ instructional assistants

? First graders walked to buses by safety patrols ? Grade 2-6 students participate in silent

dismissal process (via television) from classroom to bus loop ? Staff on duty to supervise the process

Kiss-and-Ride

? Participating students dismissed to cafeteria for Kiss-and-Ride

? Parents enter loop, stay in car and display car tag with student name(s) on passenger visor

? Students called to cars via radio by staff on duty ? Patrols and staff members help students into cars

HES Dismissal Options & Locations

Kindergarten & First Grade Walkers or Park & Ride Parent/Sibling Pick up

? Exit #10/11 (by library at front of building) ? Kindergarten and first grade students and their

older siblings/friends (grades 2-6) will be dismissed from this exit to parents who are walking home or have utilized the Park & Ride option when announcements are made ? Staff on duty to supervise the process

Grades 2-6 Walkers or Park & Ride Parent Pick up

? SACC Courtyard (behind building) ? Students in grades 2-6, who do not walk with a

younger sibling/friend in kindergarten or first grade, will dismiss to our SACC Courtyard when walkers are dismissed through the silent dismissal (via television) process ? Staff on duty to supervise the process

FCPS expects students to be in school and follow their assigned schedules unless their absence is excused due to illness, a death in the family, a medical or dental appointment, or religious obligations.
