Intern Orientation: Maternal Child Health (MCH) ServiceExpectations & DetailsAssignments during the orientation month:MCHIncludes rounding on postpartum couplets on MBU, helping to manage patients on L&D, and seeing patients in triageArrive at 6-6:30am to pre-round on patients and start notesMCH team sign out is at 7:00am (with day and night team).Teaching will start around 7:15am.Day chief and attending go to/call into board sign out at 7:45amEvening sign out is at 7pm, some interns may be able to leave earlier (depending on census and how busy service is). Safety huddle at 7:45pm in board room.MBU:See assigned mother and/or baby (please don’t wake up sleeping moms)Start note when pre-rounding in the morning (see templates for progress notes, dc summaries)Present couplet to the attendingTriage:Review chart for assigned patientSee patient and then present to senior resident. Senior resident will help with exam, formulation of plan.L&D:Meet patients in labor in the morningMonitor fetal heart tracingWrite labor progress notes (q2 hours if in active labor or on magnesium q4 hours if in latent labor)2. Night intern- Arrive at 7pm for sign out - Work with Junior and Senior Night float to manage patients on L&D and see patients in triageMay help round on patients in the morning (if busy service)Leave around 8 am after sign out and teaching3.
