Norwegian Reveals Soaring Demand for New Dublin-Hamilton Flights with 90% Seats Filled in First Month

HAMILTON, ONTARIO (MAY 8, 2019) ? Norwegian, the World's Best LowCost Long-Haul airline, revealed a soaring demand for its brand-new nonstop flights between Hamilton International Airport to Dublin since the route debuted on March 31. The airline has flown more than 5,000 passengers with an average load factor of 90 per cent in April 2019, the first month of operation.

Despite the temporary worldwide grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which was originally scheduled to operate the route and the adjusted frequency of service as a result, Norwegian is demonstrating strong growth. Current fares from Hamilton to Dublin start as low as $249 CAD, including tax.

"We're seeing great demand for our newest route, both with Canadians traveling to Ireland and beyond with us, and Europeans visiting top tourist destinations of Ontario that are still relatively new and undiscovered by them," said Matthew Wood, Senior Vice President of Long-Haul Commercial.

In July 2017, Norwegian commenced transatlantic services from the U.S. to Dublin Airport, launching flights from New York Stewart International Airport and Providence's T.F. Green Airport.

The Hamilton route currently operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Starting July, it will operate three times weekly on the same days excluding Sunday utilizing a Boeing 737-800 aircraft that includes free Wi-Fi.

The airline last year celebrated a milestone of more than 250,000 passengers carried on its transatlantic services from U.S. to Dublin Airport.

About Norwegian Norwegian is the world's fifth largest low-cost airline and carried over 37 million passengers in 2018. The airline operates more than 500 routes to over 150 destinations in Europe, North Africa, Middle East, Thailand, Caribbean, North and South America. Norwegian has a fleet of more than 160 aircraft, with an average age of 3.8 years, making it one of the world's youngest and "greenest" fleets.

Norwegian has been named the Most Fuel-Efficient Airline on Transatlantic Routes by the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) twice. Norwegian has been voted `Europe's Best Low-Cost Airline' by passengers for six consecutive years at the SkyTrax World Airline Awards 2013-2018, along with being named the `World's Best Low-Cost Long-Haul' Airline' for the past four years. Norwegian employs more than 11,000 people worldwide.
