Parents are asked to sign or initial student’s agendas Monday through Thursday. Thursday Folders need to be returned on Friday or the next day that they are sent home.

All graded work must be signed or initialed and returned as well. We keep folders on all graded work for each grading period.

Language Arts

The students have begun working to achieve their 40 book goal for the year. We are so excited about all of their enthusiasm. We have already begun individual conferencing regarding their reading.

• Reading Logs are due tomorrow!!

Our first poem recitation has been assigned. Students need to come to class on September 26 with their poem form as well as their presentation memorized and rehearsed. You may print extra copies of the poems from Mrs. Bredice’s webpage if needed.

Students have also begun their creative writing this week. We have written our 6-word Memoirs and they are hanging in the hall if you get a chance to come and visit.

Math

We have been reviewing previously learned concepts in math such as place value through the thousandths place.

• Comparing and rounding whole numbers and decimals.

• Estimation

• Adding and subtracting whole numbers and decimals.

Students have been given Xtra Math pins so that they may practice at home. Dream Box is also up and running. Feel free to practice at home. Hint, Hint….

Football Math

We will be using the 17 weeks of the NFL football season to make predictions, discuss win/loss ratios as well as make fractions and explore percentages.
