Press Release-City of Tonawanda Assessor’s Office-September 2nd, 2020

EXEMPTION PROCESS FOR 2021 RENEWALS AND NEW APPLICATIONS

As a result of new protocols and processes developed by the City of Tonawanda in response to Covid-19, the City of Tonawanda Assessors office will be instituting some new time frames and procedures to handle 2021 Exemption renewals and new applications.

The office will not start sending out any renewals, or handle any new applications until after October 15th, 2020.In addition, their goal when they begin the process is to have as much as possible, a “touch less” process, All renewals and new applications will be handled by electronic means via email, use of actual mailing, or a drop off program where property owners will drop off at the drop box at city hall.

Much of the process is still being developed, but to avoid unnecessary trips to Tonawanda City Hall, the Assessor is requesting property owners to wait for the October 15th time. Additional information will be coming that will be communicated with the renewal notices that will be mailed .It will also be communicated via the City of Tonawanda website, informational meetings via Zoom, and other types of public communication and mailings.

The goal of the Assessor’s office is to make the Exemption renewal process as easy as possible, but to institute a system that maximizes the health and safety of our residents and town staff

.
