5th Grade Notable African Americans Research Report/Presentation/Rubric February is African American History Month! In addition to learning about the African Kings and Queens of history, students will also be studying and presenting from a list of astound African Americans that have had a tremendous impact in history. Students have randomly picked names and must research that person. In addition to presenting their notable African American, each student is asked to come in costume as that person. During the presentation, they will speak in first person (as if they’re that person), state their name, birth/ death date and 3-4 facts about that person and what they’ve done to be recognized in African American History.Students must also type a one page paper and it must also include the following:Introduction (1 paragraph)- introduces the topic and the three points (biography, achievements and contributed to history) that will be discussed in the research paperBody (3 paragraphs)- detailed paragraphs of the biography, achievements/awards, and how they have contributed to historyConclusion (1 paragraph) restatement of the three points that was written about in the research paper & closing sentenceEach paragraph should be 7-8 sentences and must include a cover page and a bibliography (a list of where they got their information from).
