Dear Tséhootsooí Middle School Parents, Guardians, and Grandparents,

Next week, your child will be administered the district assessment starting on September 14 – 16, 2020 and it will be an online assessment. The make-up test sessions will be administered starting on September 17-25, 2020 and that will also be an online assessment. In previous years, your child was given the Galileo Reading, Writing, Math and Science Test. This year, we have a new testing platform called Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA). The NWEA is an assessment that gives teachers the ability to measure individual student’s academic growth.

Your child will be administered the Math, Reading and Language during their ELA Zoom and Math instructional time. Testing sessions will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 p.m. Students will sign into their regular scheduled Zoom session and then the teacher will guide the students to the NWEA Math, Language or Reading assessment. Within the next few days, your child’s teacher will provide the login and password for each test session. Once your child has entered the test session they are required to work independently. Please do not assist your child throughout the test. We will have a team of teachers to help monitor their progress throughout the test session.

Below is the scheduled test times are from 10:00 – 12:00 p.m.:

|Test Subject |Grade |Date |

|NWEA Language |7th & 8th |Monday, Sep 14, 2020 |

|NWEA Math |7th & 8th |Monday, Sep 14, 2020 |

|NWEA Reading |7th & 8th |Tuesday, Sept 15, 2020 |

|*Make –Up |7th & 8th |Sept 16-25, 2020 |

|NWEA Reading, Language and Math | | |

The night before testing, please ensure that your child gets a good night’s rest, eats a healthy breakfast, and joins their Zoom session on-time.

Please find a quiet space for your child to take the test. It is extremely important for your child to complete the assessments. While it may be tempting to help, please do not assist your child with their assessments. Remember, this assessment is to measure where they are at, so we can best support their learning. This will be a whole new experience this year, we ask for your patience and understanding. Please check with your child’s teacher for updated testing information. If you have any questions, please contact us.

Sincerely,

Cara Bedonie

Principal,

Tséhootsooí Middle School
