Member Number:
Member numbers are issued to new members at the time they join NYCERS. Your member number will appear on all communications from NYCERS as well as your payroll checks and stubs. NYCERS will refer to this as your "Member Number" as long as you have not retired; however, as you can see in the example below, in some cases your paystub may refer to your NYCERS Member Number as your "Pension Number."
Your Member Number can also be located on your "e-stub" under the citywide Employee Self Service program (mayoral agencies only). To view your e-stub, log into your Employee Self Service account and select "Payroll and Compensation," followed by "View My Last Pay Stub" and then "Pay Statement Details." Once again, your Member Number may be labeled as your "Pension Number."

Pension Number:
This number is only issued to pensioners after their effective date of retirement and is different from their NYCERS Membership Number. A Pension Number has six digits and a suffix code and will appear on your pension checks as well as any correspondence mailed to you by NYCERS.
Mailed Check:
If you receive your pension checks by mail, the example below shows you how to locate your Pension Number and suffix code. If you already cashed your pension check, the Pension Number can also be found on your check stub:

If your assigned suffix is E, H, R, or T you must use the number "5" as the suffix to activate your MyNYCERS account. If your assigned suffix is 8, you must use the number "0" as the suffix to activate your MyNYCERS account.
