This email serves as a reminder of the 2015 College of Nursing Convocation Ceremony.Friday, May 8, 201510:00 AMOhio Theatre39 E. State StreetColumbus OH 43215Graduating students should arrive at 9:00 AM and check-in at the Registration table. Convocation is a very special ceremony for all nursing graduates, their friends and families.You, as the graduate, are being celebrated by the faculty and staff of the College of Nursing! During the Convocation Ceremony, undergraduates will receive their nursing pins, Masters and Post Masters students will receive their specialty certificates, DNP students will be hooded and PhD graduates will receive special recognition on stage with their advisor. In addition, special awards and honors from the college will be presented. The ceremony will last approximately 2 hours.Please read the following information regarding your responsibilities on the day of Convocation, as well as directions to the Ohio Theatre and parking instructions. Tickets and RSVP’s are NOT needed for you or your guests; seating will be on a first come - first served basis. NOTE: Diplomas are distributed at a separate ceremony, the OSU Spring Commencement Ceremony, on Sunday, May 10th. Detailed information will be sent by the Graduate School, with additional information available at Commencement.osu.eduMasters Students: Wear “cap & gown, gold hoods, and black tassels. These may be purchased at the Barnes & Noble bookstore. (Graduate Entry and Traditional Master’s students receive the MS degree)Post Masters Students: Wear “cap & gown” with black tassels. These may be purchased at the Barnes & Noble bookstore. DNP Students: Information about DNP regalia has been sent separately by the Graduate Program Manager. PhD Students: should contact Graduation Services at the Graduate School at (614) 292-6031 to purchase hoods and inquire about regalia. PhD students wear gray tassels, which may be purchased at the Barnes & Noble bookstore.Day of Convocation9:00 AM: Doors to the auditorium will open for your guests. Seating is first come, first served. If you have a guest with limited mobility (wheelchair, crutches, etc.) there are some handicapped seats available on the main level for their convenience. Please note that due to the historic nature of the Ohio Theatre, the only elevator is located in the southeast corner of the Galbreath Pavilion. Guests enter through the main theater doors.9:00-9:30 AM: Students must check in at the Registration Table. Go to the east side of the building into the Galbreath Pavilion and walk south down the esplanade (“covered alley”) toward the Columbus Commons. There will be signage available to direct you to the correct (separate) entrance to get to the Registration area.You will receive a card with your name and processional line number on it. 9:00 - 9:30 AM: DNP and PHD graduates should report to the faculty Rehearsal Room in the basement for line up.? 9:00 - 9:30 AM All other graduating Grad students need to go to the Rehearsal Room in the basement. Bring your NAME CARD. Please leave all valuables with your guests. Once in the Rehearsal Room, please write the phonetic spelling on the card (if needed) so that your name will be pronounced correctly.9:35 AM Line-up according to the number on your card. Staff will be present to direct you to the procession area.10:00 AM: The processional into the theatre begins. Students will enter from the rear doors and proceed down the aisle to the assigned student seating. College of Nursing Staff will direct you.When it’s time for the students to be recognized, staff will have ONE row rise at a time. You will enter the stage from the stairs on the RIGHT. Hand your NAME CARD to the faculty member at the podium and your name will be announced.As your name is announced, proceed across the stage.Receive your certificate.Continue across the stage, shake hands with the Dean, then exit down the stairs on the LEFT and return to your seat. ................
