October MEETING is 2 pm SUNDAY, October 19, 2014, at the Martin Regional Library, 2601 South Garnett Road, Tulsa, Ok 74129.

Presidents Message:

There was a big turnout at the South Baptist Church Car Show on September 21st following our last Club Meeting. Being my first year living in this area, I have learned that this is one of the GO TO events here in the Tulsa area. John and Nancy Kimbrough proudly displayed one of our new flags, and it was visible from anywhere in the parking area. There were Studebakers there that I had never seen before, and it was interesting to hear the comments and stories told by passersby about their Studebaker experiences. I have marked my calendar for this event next year and would like to see the Studebaker brand well represented with our flags once again flying high!

We need to be making plans for some upcoming events so I hope to see everyone on Sunday!

f you have any suggestions, questions, or concerns, you are encouraged to contact me by e-mail or telephone. My e-mail is lglove@ and my phone is 918-323-1655.

TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION

Orphan Car Show

The Branson Orphan Car Show hosted by Ozark Trails Chapter was another great show with the weather being good. John and Nancy Kimbrough displayed their truck, Maddie Webb had her car there. Others in attendance were Ron Anderson, Charlie Musgrove, Richard Allen, Bob Fox, Bob and Helen Canada and Michelle Fourroux.

IDY Studebaker Day - Meet in the Middle

Roger and Loretta Patton represented the Tulsa group at the meet in the middle excursion hosted by the Oklahoma City group. There were plenty of activities during the day including the Route 66 Museum and the Modern Age Museum.l

Flags and Banners

We received our various club banners order from the national office. Richard Allen had an idea of preparing a small side banner with the name of the Northeastern Oklahoma SDC to let everyone know who our club represented. The banner made its first outing in Branson at Maddie Webb's car. President Larry Love will be the keeper of the various banners. Larry indicated that he had put the cost of $730 on his credit card which included shipping. Larry stated that the club would receive a $150 rebate for submitting the request early. Thus, he requested to be reimbursed for $580. The club will reimburse Larry for the cost.

The banner package from the national organization includes a large (4x4) and small ( 3x3) club banner as well as two 12' feather banners. A base comes with the banners.

SDC National Board member, Bob Canada

Responsible for the South Central Zone area which includes Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico, and part of Old Mexico. He is on the Audit Committee. Bob mentioned that there was a recent Executive Committee meeting. He had nothing to report. He did state that he would be doing an on-line meeting about mid October. The club will look forward to Bob's report of the meeting in College Station with the Dallas and Bayou Chapters at a barbeque.

Business Cards

Larry has club business cards on his to-do list. Previously, Wayne McFadden stated that he would be able to get a discount at Staples.

Website Update

Bobby Barton indicated that he would check into updating the club website.

Opportunities to Cruise

The South Tulsa Baptist Church, 10310 South Sheridan, near 101st and Sheridan will have their annual car show from 4 pm to 6:30 pm on September 18. There are generally 400-500 cars at this show. Larry suggested that, perhaps, the club could have our monthly meeting at this car show next year.

April Zone Meet Hospitality Room

Per Teresa of the Crowne Plaza, the club will have two rooms available upstairs for the hospitality room. The reasoning was that food could not be brought in at a first floor hospitality room.

OLD BUSINESS

March 2015 New Car Show in Tulsa

Bob Canada will find out if there will be a March 2015 new car show. According to Bob, the 2014 show was moved from March to April. Bob indicated this show is a good PR event.

NAME TAGS

Cecil Kindy reminded members to wear their name tags.

NEW BUSINESS

Larry requested feedback from the club whether or not they wanted to go to another place for the monthly meetings. He requested if anyone had any ideas of where the club might have some of our monthly meetings, they are to let him know of their ideas.

Maddie Webb was interested in various cruise nights in the local area. Larry Love indicated he would send her a few cruise nights that she might like attending. He stated that there is a cruise night almost every night. A few of the cruise nights he would recommend the River Walk which is every Sunday in Jenks. He also mentioned cruise nights in Sapulpa, Sand Springs, Bartlesville and that Fuddruckers has their cruise night every Tuesday, and the Cancer Center is the first Thursday.
