Hello Shark Nation Families and Community. We continue to encourage our students to remain focused on

their studies and ask for assistance as needed. Teachers are here and ready to help. Stay safe, healthy and

enjoy the cooler temperatures!

Ms. Holman's class has adopted Evie. Evie is a dairy cow from Stotz Dairy in

Buckeye. The class will receive health updates and other information about

Evie throughout the year. Welcome to Shark Nation Evie we can't wait to

watch you grow! Congratulations to Ms. Thatcher (4th grade) and Ms.

Gutierrez (5th grade) for having their classes complete the most activities in

Achieve 3000 with students scoring 75% or higher on their first attempt during

the first quarter!

We＊ve talked a lot about eating healthy and now

students are getting to grow their own healthy

food. Students in third grade were each given a

cabbage plant to grow from Bonnie Plants.

Students take care of and nurture the cabbage as

it grows to be humongous!

Students may tend to find writing for an assignment boring, but when you

add a twist to it, it becomes much more interesting. Students in 6th grade

have been working on hard on their Halloween Spooky Stories. Students

began by brainstorming in a notebook and then began bringing their creative stories to life in Google Docs. Students are using online thesaurus＊ to

identify scary synonyms and online dictionaries to add fun adjectives to

their writing. And of course, they have fun with fonts when titling their

story.

One of the many questions teachers are

posing to students each day is, ※Do you

know what you are going to enjoy about

school today?§ This helps set a positive

tone for the day and get students

excited about learning. Try asking your

students this before school or, what they

enjoyed most about school at the end of

the day.

Many children love to talk about their day and what they are doing.

Sometimes it just takes a little bit of prompting to get the conversation

going. Try using some of these questions to get a conversation started,

※What parts of school today went by the fastest? Slowest?§ and ※Which

assignment/activity did you feel most confident about today?§ Talking to

children about school gives you an opportunity to discover how your child

is doing.

If you/your child or a family member is

experiencing COVID-like symptoms (fever or

chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty

breathing, fatigue, sore throat, headache,

congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting,

diarrhea, muscle/body aches, and/or a new

loss of taste or smell), do not attend work/

school, and consider either seeking healthcare

or getting a COVID-19 PCR or antigen test,

depending on the severity of symptoms.

Testing locations can be found by calling 2-1-1.

Fourth grade students are exploring energy and motion through the creation of

a roller coaster. The objective of the lesson is for students to discover how high

the hills of a roller coaster must be to get their marble from the starting point to

a landing point. Students will encounter a challenge with the experiment if their

starting point is not high enough, and if their second hill is too high. The goal of

the lesson is for students to understand that in order for their marble to make it

over the second hill, it must have enough stored energy.

Parents please talk with your children about

making sure cell-phones are not out or being

used on campus, unless the teacher has given

expressed consent for a lesson. It keeps kids

focused at school and away from distractions.
