1. What's the difference between Office 365 and Office 2013?

Office 2013 is the name of the traditional software package that includes individual desktop programs. Office 365 delivers the Office 2013 programs as part of a subscription service that includes online storage, sharing, and syncing via Microsoft cloud services. Office 365 is available in business, consumer, education, and government editions.

When purchased as part of an Office 365 subscription, the Office 2013 programs and associated services are always available in the latest version. (Go to question 17 for more info)

2. Which of the following is a key feature that is unique to Office 365 subscription in comparison to Office suites?

Product upgrades are included as long as the customer has a current subscription.

3. OEM vs. Volume Licensing ? When should I sell a customer Office OEM? i. OEM is the most affordable way to purchase Office and makes it very easy to install and use. This is the most common way for smaller businesses (less than 25 employees) to buy Office software

? When should I sell Office through Volume Licensing? i. Volume licensing is preferred for larger businesses (more than 50 employees) due to the addition of business class functionality (i.e. Imaging and server side enhancements), as well as ease .of administration and the ability to "move" the license to replacement PC's

4. Can a customer move their OEM software to a new Dell PC?

No, the OEM software is licensed with the computer system on which it was originally installed and is tied to that original machine

5. What is the difference between the Office 2013 suites and Office 365 Home Premium?

Office 2013 suites are designed for use on a single PC and cannot be transferred to a different PC.

Office 365 Home Premium is a subscription service that includes all Office applications. It can be installed on up to 5 PCs and includes additional cloud services such as additional SkyDrive online storage and Skype minutes for home use.

6. Is Office 365 required to run Office 2013?

No. You will still be able to purchase any Office 2013 edition with a perpetual license that doesn't require any ongoing subscription fees. This version can be combined with a free Microsoft Account (aka Windows Live account) to allow online document storage and sharing.

7. What version of Windows do I need to run Office 365 or the new Office 2013 suites?

Windows 7 or Windows 8 is required.

8. What are the system requirements for Office 2013?

Office 2013 will run only on Windows 7 or Windows 8 (which is currently in Release Preview), or on Windows Server 2008 R2 or later. You'll need at least 3.5 GB of free disk space.

9. Does Office come with a disc(s)?

Disc not included. The suite will be preinstalled on the PC as an active image or available for download.

10. Which Purchase channels of Office offer downgrade rights?

Only software purchased through Volume License agreements offer downgrade rights. OEM, PKC and FPP do NOT offer downgrade rights

11. Is there a reduced cost "Upgrade License" I can buy, since I already have a version of Office?

No, only "full versions" of Office software are available. Customers can use this to upgrade their existing install and to maintain settings, etc..

12. We recently purchased new Windows 8 devices; will our previous versions of Office work with Windows 8?

? What type of Windows 8 devices did you purchase? (RT devices will only run Office 2013 Student)

? While Office 2010 and Office 2007 will "work" with Windows 8, only Office 2013 will allow you to take advantage of the full touch experience that Windows 8 offers

14. Where can I download the Consumer Preview?

You can sign up for any Office 365 plan at preview. Download links for individual apps, including an installer-based copy of the Office 2013 package, are at this page. If you have a TechNet Plus or MSDN subscription, you can also find downloads via those services.

17. What is "the cloud"?

Cloud computing is the use of computing resources (hardware and software) that are delivered as a service over a network (typically the Internet).

18. Are the Office applications installed on my PC or are they actually in the cloud?

For all editions, applications are installed on the customer's PC.

11 What is SkyDrive?

? Online (cloud) storage to upload files, and access from anywhere. ? Office 365 comes with 20GB of SkyDrive storage.

12 Why isn't OneNote included with the system?

OneNote is not part of the factory installed version of Office 2013 however, it is installed on your system. Go to "Desktop" and you will see it listed under the Desktop applications.

Purchase (1) copy of Office through your Volume License agreement per endpoint (device) that will be accessing Office

17. Office 2013 vs. Office 2010 vs Office 365 ? User interface: Office 2013 is much more tablet (touch and stylus) friendly. It's also much

cleaner: the UI is less cluttered and the chrome is gone. Besides making it easier on the eyes, this probably takes some load off of the graphics processors, making the app run faster on less powerful devices. ? Word: Documents are saved to SkyDrive by default (assuming you're online and signed in to your organizational account). When signed in to SkyDrive, the system remembers where you last were in the document. ? Excel: Excel watches your actions, recognizes the pattern, and auto-completes data entry (called "Flash Fill").
