About the ENNEAGRAM

[pic]

The ENNEAGRAM is an ancient wisdom that gives insight into the motivating forces within the human person.

It is not strictly about personality profiles; rather it is about the origins and nature of human compulsive tendencies and the ways in which they can, when we are not conscious of them, drive us into unhealthy behaviours and attitudes. This unhealthiness damages the fabric of our interpersonal relationships, falsifying our self-perception and corrupting our capacity for love, to love, and to be loved. Divine Grace requires our cooperation, and our lack of awareness of these hidden forces within ourselves limits this. When we become conscious of what is at work in us we find a pathway that brings truth, freedom and a growing delight in the presence of God.

The Facilitator:

Chris Chaplin became interested in the Enneagram in 1988. Completing further study in the Enneagram in 1992 and since, Chris has used this tool for over 20 years as he walked with people as a Spiritual Director (graduate SILOAM, Heart of Life, Melbourne 1994) and while at St. Mary’s Towers Retreat Centre, Douglas Park (2006 to 2009). He is an active member of the Conference of Spiritual Directors Australia (CSD Australia).

Chris has facilitated workshops on the Enneagram around the country over the last few years.

He is also an experienced teacher of Meditation and Mindfulness, and a practicing Psychotherapist. He is a founding member of the Association of Transpersonal & Experiential Psychotherapists Inc. (ATEP) - a Member Association of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).

He lives the life of a hermit at Shoreham on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, where he is dedicated to the interior life.

About this WEEKEND

SATURDAY:

The task of the first day will be to grasp the fundamentals of the ENNEAGRAM.

While the day will include lecture input with handouts, we will be invited to enter into an understanding of the ENNEAGRAM experientially. The ENNEAGRAM is something we live, so we will be exploring that lived experience from how it feels on the inside, rather than starting from concepts.

SUNDAY:

Attendance Saturday is a pre-requisite for understanding Sunday.

The second day will explore how the principles of the ENNEAGRAM speak to our unique and individual relationships with the Divine.

We will explore both the nature of our movement away from God (sinfulness and compulsion), and the movement of our hearts towards God (redemption and gift).

Each pathway in the ENNEAGRAM calls for its own particular understanding so we shall conclude the day with space to ask our own relevant questions.
