Registration Policies & Procedures

Registration: To register, go to and click on "Workshops & Courses." If you have difficulty registering, contact Bonnie Hoffman at bhoffman@ or (814) 297-5121 for assistance. All registrations must be completed online; no registrations will be accepted by phone, paper, or email.

Registration Deadline: The registration deadline is two weeks prior to the start of the activity. At that point, the activity will no longer be listed online and based on attendance, any cancellation decisions will be made and communicated via email to registrants and presenters.

Late Registration: Contact Bonnie Hoffman at bhoffman@ or (814) 297-5121 for assistance. Late registrations, including walk-ins, may or may not be accepted, depending upon registration numbers, availability of materials, etc. If accepted, an additional late registration fee of $10.00 will be added to the cost of the activity.

Payment: Payment for RIU6 Summer Courses is required by a credit card through the My Learning Plan system at the time of registration. The full payment will be charged to your account once it is confirmed that the workshop will take place. Contact Bonnie Hoffman at bhoffman@ or (814) 297-5121 if additional payment method is needed ? these will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Participant Responsibilities: District participants are responsible for ensuring the activity meets the requirements of their district's Act 48 professional education plan and that any district policies and procedures for pre-approval have been followed.

Act 48 Hours: The provisions of Act 48 apply to all educators holding Pennsylvania public school certificates, including substitutes. You may check your Act 48 status at: . Additional information regarding Act 48 requirements may be found on the PDE website at: .

Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Credits: CPE courses are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education for graduate level credit and may be used to satisfy the following:

Level II Certification - all 24 credits may be CPE credits Letter of Equivalency for Master's Degree - a maximum of 18 of the 36 required credits may be

CPE credits Act 48 requirements - one CPE credit equals 30 hours

Each credit requires 14 hours of in-class time and 16 hours of out-of-class time (to complete assignments). Districts or school-related organizations may submit CPE course proposals (up to three credits) to RIU6, and upon approval, may then offer those classes for CPE credit.

Growing Schools, Growing Teachers, Growing Students

Target Audience: K-6 Teachers (General and Special Education; Math, Science & ELA), Substitutes, and Paraeducators (Participants must have an active, individual school user PVAAS account.)
