Hurricane Katrina

Thank you to everyone who has made a donation to aid those in need in the aftermath of Katrina.

Help is still needed.

Louisiana School for the Deaf has taken in many people stranded by the hurricane – people with no homes, no food, no clothes, no money, no shelter. If you haven’t donated yet, please consider sending a check payable to ‘Louisiana School for the Deaf’. On the memo line, write ‘Hurricane Relief.’ Send your check to:

TARTAR CORNER

The Tartar season opened on Sept 6 with a win for the Varsity Soccer team MSD-7 Grace-5! Jon Stec with 3 goals, Mike Davis with 2 goals, and one goal each for Nate Boyd and Terran Bullock was the winning combination. Good Game Tartars!

The second game of the season St. Thomas-3 MSD-2. Nate Boyd scored both MSD goals. This hard fought game was marred by unsportsmanlike conduct by the opposing team. MSD athletes played through this adversity.

Our Soccer team played their third game on 9-13-05 against Valley and came away with another win MSD-3 Valley-2 Nate Boyd-1, Mike Davis-1 and Isaiah Malone-1.

Way to go Tartars!!

Coach Ron Guthrie is tutoring the girls on the basketball team with their homework everyday from 3-4 stressing the importance of academics to his team.

The Lady Tartars season opener was Thursday September 8. Very close game Grace 37 MSD 35. Amelia Smith led MSD with 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals and 6 assists. Jackie Gilmore 6 points, Virginia Keeler 6 points, Maria Klein 2 points and Mary Sporman 1 point.

Lady Tartars had another nail biter on

9-13 with a loss to VCA. VCA-31-MSD30.

Amelia led in scoring with 17 pts, Jackie Gilmore -11 points and Virginia Keeler -2 points. Keep it up girls - our win is around the corner!

Parent Night is September 22 at the Girls game against SASA. Game time 6:00 pm. Hope to see you there!

The 7-8 Grade Soccer team opened their season on September 12 with a game against St. Paul Lapeer. Our team played hard, but we lost 4-0. Lots of team spirit with this team which had been struggling to have enough players to field their team. Tartar Pride!
