Most Vivid Memory

Spring of 1969, Larry Altoffer (room 37 W Lawn) and I (room 38 E. Lawn), drove golf balls on the Lawn from the Rotunda toward Cabell Hall. On one occasion, Dean Crispell, Pavilion I and Dean of Med School, came out and used my 3-wood to "hit a few". A real gentleman. His young son had been killed in a car wreck that year, and later Dr. Crispell had a heard attack. A few weeks later, a notice displayed from Dean Dd. Alan Williams to the effect of no more golf swinging or drive [sic] taking on the Lawn.

Wonderful friends on the Lawn that year and many from the 1st years in the "dorms", Alan Rudlin - UVa Law, Pat Sand, UVa Medicine; Larry Altoffer UVa Medicine; Ward Close - Vanderbilt Medicine.
