Ohio eBook Project & SEO Library Consortium:

eBooks and your NOOK

The Ohio eBook Project and SEO Library Consortium are sister sites that use the same software and function much the same. Both sites allow users to download eBooks, audiobooks, music, and video from current and bestselling authors. Both sites are compatible with a wide range of devices.

There are some differences between the sites, however. In order to log into the Ohio eBook Project, users must select “Clermont County Public Library” from the drop-down box and enter their CCPL card number and PIN. The Ohio eBook Project allows users to check out digital materials for 1 or 2 weeks.

In order to log into the SEO Library Consortium, users must select the second [select library] option, which reads “If your library is a member of The Ohio eBook Project Consortium, please select your library from the list below”. Users enter their CCPL library card number and PIN to log in. The SEO Library Consortium allows users to check out digital materials for 1, 2, or 3 weeks. The SEO Library Consortium also offers Disney Digital Books, which can be checked out and read on Windows and Mac computers using your web browser.

Make sure your card is active and that you have a PIN number.

Make sure your card is active. If it needs to be renewed, you can come into any Clermont County Public Library (CCPL) branch with your picture ID and something with your current address (if your picture ID does not have it listed). Cards need to be renewed every year to be considered active. Any fines must be paid down to $0.00 in order to renew your card.

Downloadable books will not show up in your regular CCPL account. However, if your CCPL account has fines at $10.01 or over, you will not be able to download any books until it is under $10.01.

Downloading Open EPUB/PDF books to Adobe Digital Editions:

1. Find the title in your “Currently Checked Out” list.

2. Right-Click on the gray button next to the cover and options will show up. Choose the option that says “Save Link As…”

[pic]

When you right-click on something on a webpage, you use the right button on your mouse, instead of the left button that you usually use. There is a diagram below:

[pic]

3. After you click “Save Link As…”, the screen shown below (or a screen very similar) will pop up, which directs you to choose a folder in which to save your Open EPUB/PDF eBook.

In order to find the book easily, you may want to choose “Desktop”, so that it will show up on your main computer screen. An easy way to find your desktop is to simply close or minimize all of your open programs. It will show your main screen. The Open EPUB/PDF should show up immediately once you save it to your Desktop.

Alternately, if you have a folder where you prefer to save files, feel free to save the Open EPUB/PDF eBooks there.

4. Find the Open EPUB/PDF eBook icon/picture on your desktop, or in the folder in which you saved it. Also, open your Adobe Digital Editions.

[pic]

5. Click on the icon of the eBook with your left mouse button and hold down. While holding down the left mouse button, drag the title over to your opened Adobe Digital Editions.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What formats can I read on my NOOK?

A: You can download and read Adobe EPUB and PDF eBooks on all models of the NOOK.

Q: What’s the difference?

A: Adobe PDF eBooks feature a static layout with set page breaks. PDF works well for graphic novels, illustrated titles, and other titles with specific formatting. Adobe EPUB eBooks feature reflowable text, which means you can resize the text or change the size of your display and the text of the Adobe EPUB eBook reflows to fill the available view area. This makes Adobe EPUB eBooks the best choice for reading eBooks on small screens, like an eBook reader.

You can transfer eBooks to any of the NOOK devices including the NOOK Tablet. Note that the NOOK Tablet does not support the OverDrive Media Console app, but you can enjoy EPUB and PDF eBooks from the library on your NOOK Tablet. Visit OverDrive's Device Resource Center for a list of compatible devices and the formats they support.

Q: Can I renew my library eBook on my NOOK?

A: Unfortunately, you cannot renew the eBook if the lending period is up and you have not finished your book.

• If the title is available, you can simply check it out

• If the title is on a wait list, it will automatically go the next person in line, and you’ll have to place a hold.

Q: Instead of the eBook I expected, I downloaded a file named 'urllink.acsm'. What should I do?

A: The download of 'urllink.acsm' is part of the normal download process for eBooks. However, the file should automatically prompt Adobe Digital Editions to open. You may need to install or reinstall Adobe Digital Editions. To view instructions, go to the Setup tab of My Help. After Adobe Digital Editions is installed, return to the OverDrive-powered websi

te. Select the title's 'Download' button. The title should now download.
