The Datastream database contains a comprehensive market data for over 63,000 quotes (approx. 45,000 companies) worldwide, and 12,000 global market indexes. Datastream also has extensive details on fundamental indicators such as earnings, dividends, and sales.
The Datastream market data provides a "rolling" 10 years of daily historical data.
Datastream’s information covers over 50 markets and 150 countries, with a key focus on emerging and pre-emerging markets.
How to Use this Glossary

AdjustmentFactor
The stock split which has occurred on that day, not a cumulative factor.
ADRIndicator
Indicates companies which have American Depository Receipts trading on a U.S. exchange. If a company has ADRs, an "X" would be provided in this field.
AnnualizedDividendRate
The rolling 12-month dividend amount.
Beta
A coefficient that measures an equities relative volatility compared to the markets.
BetaCorrelation
A statistical measure of the degree to which two variables are related in this case the variables being the market and a particular security.
BreadthIndex
The number equities expressed as a percentage which had trading activity for that day.
CashEarningsPerShare
Cash earnings on a per share basis for the current period for a particular issue.
CashEarningsPerShareDate
Date of the earnings per share.
CashFlow
Net income plus depreciation and other non-cash charges synonymous with cash earnings for a company.
CommonSharesOutstanding
The current number of common shares outstanding for an issue.
CountryCode
A code that determines which country a security resides in.
CurrencyCode
A code that determines which currency an issue is being traded in.
CurrentCurrencyCode
A code that determines what the current currency the issue is being traded in.
CurrentPeriodAnnual
Code used to denote annual data.
CurrentPeriodDaily
Code used to denote daily data.
CurrentPeriodMonthly
Code used to denote monthly data.
CurrentPeriodQuarterly
Code used to denote quarterly data.
CurrentPeriodWeekly
Code used to denote weekly data.
CUSIP
Nine digit CUSIP number for issue identification.

First six digits of the CUSIP number.

Disclosure Company Number.

The dividend amount paid for the past year.

Returns the Last dividend amount Paid.

DividendExDate
The time interval between the announcement and payment of a dividend an investor who buys shares during that interval will not receive a dividend payment it will instead go to the seller.

EarningsIndex
The level of earnings as a percentage past a certain point for an index.
EarningsYield
The portion of a company's profit paid on each share of common stock expressed as a percentage.

A unique identifying key for each company, issue, index, quote, etc.
EntityName
The Entity Name represents the name of the Company, Issue, Quote, etc.
EntitySubType
Indicates the subclass of entity within the Entity type class.

Indicates the type of Entity - e.g. Company, Issue, Quote, Index, etc.

The Earnings Forecast for next fiscal year.

Code that distinguishes living and dead securities.
EuroConversionDate
Euro Conversion Date is the date that a company converted to the Euro from its native currency.
Exchange
The exchange a quote or issue is listed on.
ExDividendAdjustment
The fall in the price that is equivalent to the dividend payment
FiscalPeriod
Time period associated with the data.
FiscalYearEndDate
The date of the last Fiscal Year End for the company.
FYREndMonth
The month that the companies fiscal year ends in.
FYREndMonthCurr
The current month that a companies fiscal year ends in. Useful if it has changed recently.
FYRTransitionMonth
The month in which the company changes fiscal year.
GeographyGroupCode
Code that determines the companies geographic region.
InactiveDate
The date an issue has gone inactive.

A code used to determine the industry group a company belongs to.

The type of investment instrument.
