Food drive, Soccer Uniforms

❖ Food drive: There will be a Food Drive at the November meeting. Please, bring non-perishable items. Leaders: There is a Food Drive patch (available at the Council office) that you could get to encourage and reward the girls in your troop who participate in a Food Drive.
❖ Soccer Uniforms: In December, the Girl Scouts of Palo Alto will be collecting soccer uniforms for the Child on Child Health Program in the Palo Alto sister city of Oaxaca. We need one person from each school to prepare a box to collect the uniforms. The boxes should be put in each school as soon as the soccer season is over and brought back to the Girl Scout House no later than December 15th. In December, we will also need some help sorting the uniforms. (Marion Mandell)

Cost: $12.50 per skater = admission, skate rentals and supper. Dinner Only = $2.50
THIS IS A TROOP EVENT (NOT individual event)
Leader = is responsible for collecting permission slips. girls money and supervision for your troop. You should have girls emergency forms with you.
Here’s what you do:
1. Pick a date that fits your schedule and girl level.
2. Send out notices to all your girls parents (permission slips)
3. Collect them back; see who you have to help supervise your troop,.
4. Call Lisa Jewett and make your reservation with her

5. Organize your drivers…. Have a fun Skate Party
6. Give money to Lisa Jewett, so she can pay on the skating night.
7. REMEMBER to bring; permission slips, and health forms for each girl.

For new leaders, the Fall Product Sale consists of taking orders for nuts and magazines. Joanne will have all the materials you will need at the September 20th Leaders' Meeting as well as samples of the nuts. The sale officially starts on October 1st and runs through October 23rd.

Girl Scout House/Kaper Chart

❖ Scout House: Usage of Girl Scout House: If you want to hold troop meetings at LHH, contact Karen Smestad. If you wish to reserve for other functions or during the weekends, contact Shannon Fink at council (968-8396).
❖ Kaper Chart: We still need help at the leaders meeting. If you did not sign up, email Karen or sign up at the leaders meeting. Here is a reminder on how you can help.
Set-up (2 troops needed)
❖ This job is best done by a team of two.
❖ Arrive 1/2 hour before meeting
❖ Set up tables & chairs in the Big Room. (They may need to be carried in from another room.)
❖ Tables may be arranged in a "U" shape opening toward the fireplace, or any other arrangement conducive to a large gathering.
❖ Be sure to place 1 large refreshments table at the back corner near the kitchen.
❖ Put the desk in front of the fireplace.
SHARING
❖ Share information about a craft, activity, or any other topic likely to be of interest to other leaders.
❖ Be sure to bring any pertinent materials, such as a sample, instructions, necessary paperwork, etc.
REFRESHMENTS (2 troops needed)
❖ Each person brings enough for ~20 people. One brings a sweet, the other brings a savory.
❖ Arrive 20-30 minutes early so that you can prepare coffee and hot water before the meeting begins. (You'll find coffee & tea fixings in the Scout House kitchen.)
❖ Place a waste can by the refreshments table.
❖ Set out mugs, sugar, creamer, tea bags, spoons, napkins, etc.
❖ Don't forget to take home your serving dishes & utensils, plus any leftover food.
CLEAN UP (2 troops needed)
❖ This job is best done by two people.
❖ Wash spoons, mugs, and any other dishes at the end of the meeting.
❖ Clean the refreshments table and sweep underneath.
❖ Empty the trash.
❖ Stack chairs at the back of the Big Room.
❖ Leave 6-8 folding tables in the Big Room. All other tables should moved where needed in other rooms.
