Pentacel Supply Reduction

April 25, 2012

Maine Immunization Providers

The Maine Immunization Program has been informed that there is a supply delay related to Sanofi Pasteur’s Pentacel (NDC 49281-0510-05) vaccine that will result in a temporary reduction in the amount of vaccine available for distribution. The supply reduction is anticipated to last throughout the summer.

Maine expects to receive allocations just less than 2/3 of the amount of Pentacel that we normally receive, due to this manufacturing delay.

Therefore, when placing your vaccine orders please decrease the amount of Pentacel that you would normally order and replace your remaining need with alternate vaccines to make up for the decrease in Pentacel. For your convenience refer to the list below of Maine Vaccine Board approved vaccines that can be used to replace the antigens found in Pentacel.

|Dtap |Daptacel |

|Dtap |Infanrix |

|IPV |IPOL |

|HIB |PedvaxHIB |

|HIB |ActHiB |

|Dtap, IPV |Kinrix |

MIP will keep monitoring vaccine supplies, including Pentacel, and will keep you timely updated.

For additional questions or concerns pleas call the Maine Immuniztion Program at 1-800-867-4775, or email us at immunizeme@ .

Sincerely,

Tonya Philbrick

Program Manager
