Emergency Preparedness Coordinator

This employee will serve as the Emergency Planning Coordinator under the FEMA Program, assist in maintaining and updating the County All-Hazards Emergency Operations Plan and assist with the departmental budget while pursuing additional funding sources. This position will be responsible for the acquisition and management of all grants obtained through Eddy County Emergency Management. Employee must perform all duties with minimal supervision. Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required. FEMA NIMS requirements for the position: ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 700, ICS 701 and ICS 800 courses. Must successfully complete the FEMA NIMS ICS 300, ICS 400, and the FEMA Professional Development Series within one (1) year of employment. Must have good communication skills, ability to understand and communicate in English, both written and oral. Must have ability to ask questions and listen to direction of supervisor. Ability to communicate with co-workers and the general public in person, and with proper phone etiquette. Good interpersonal skills required. Ability to apply sound reasoning and judgement in performance of various clerical duties. Must have the ability to work proficiently within Microsoft Professional Suite. Must have, or the ability to obtain, a valid NM driver’s license with no DWI convictions or more than two moving violations in the past three years, and be insurable by the County Insurance Authority. Must provide a current driving record. Must successfully pass criminal and employment background checks; must successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen. Must have NO illegal drug use within the past three years; Eligibility to work in the U.S. will be verified thru E-Verify. Employee must perform all duties with minimal supervision. Employee may be required to work irregular hours, attend job-related meetings, and perform other duties as assigned. Starting Salary $18.12 - $19.99 per hour DOE.
