Week 7

6 Minutes- Warm Up- 2 Line- Lay-ups. Use both right and left hand. Make them dribble. Work on hitting the backboard. .

10 Minutes- Half court 3 man weave with 2 shooters- Focus on passing and catching. Try not to drop ball. Start 3 man weave at half court. You will have two other kids on the baseline passing to the kids not shooting a layup. The people who shoot the jump shot return to baseline to pass to next jump shooter. Most often, the middle man will shoot lay up. Then the player on the left will cross to right side and receive pass for jump shot and vise versa for player on right side.

15 Minutes- 3 on 2- 2 on 1- start with 3 players under the basket dibbling it up court against 2 on defense. Whoever shots the ball or turns it over is back on defense against the 2 who were just on defense become offense. Focus on quick decisions and passing the ball.

5 Minute- SCORE- This week we will discuss Perseverance. There are times in our lives when we feel like giving up. Maybe you do not get picked to be on your friends team, or not invited to a birthday party. Maybe you've hurt someone's feelings or had your feelings hurt by someone and feel that you can never be friends again. When you feel that way, don't give up. Don't get tired of doing good. In Galatians 6:9, Paul tells us that we will eventually see result from our efforts. " Let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up." Are you tempted to give up on something? Don't quit. Talk to your parents or coach, and ask for help.

10 Minutes- Passing game- Divide kids into two teams. One team on the court at a time. Coach will shoot the ball. The team on the court will rebound. The goal is for the team to pass the down the court with each player touching the ball before scoring a basket. If they dribble or drop a pass, they have failed the test. We are trying to teach kids that passing can be another effective way to move the ball down the court rather than dribbling. To make it more challenging add the other team in to play defense.

10 Minutes- Play one-on-one to one point. When a player scores a point he stays at that basket and plays the next challenger. Use 2 baskets so you have two games of 1-on-1 going. The person who won, gets to start on offense. The person who lost will go to the end of the line at the other basket. If it takes to long for someone to score, whoever started on defense gets the win. Have the kids keep track of how many wins they get. Give a prize to the winner or have the losers do push ups or run lines.

These are just suggestions. Let me know if it is helpful or not.
