Course Description

Information needed to make intelligent choices and take effective action in the management of personal resources is provided. Topics include financial planning, buying, and borrowing, saving, budgeting, investing, and insurance and taxes.

Materials Used

Schulthesis & Kaczmarski (2003). Business Math. (15th ed.) South-Western.

Grading

Final grade will be tabulated by adding up the total points received divided by the total points possible. Percentage grades as follows:

100. A

89. B

79. C

69. D

Below 60 F

*Courses with grades of less than a “C” will not count toward a certificate or be eligible for dual credit.

Procedures for Makeup Work/Tests

Regular attendance and participation is required. Any work missed is the responsibility of the student. Students shall be granted the number of days missed plus one (1) to make up any work missed for an excused absence.

Attendance Policy/Withdrawal Policy

Students are required to attend regularly and punctually. See high school student handbook for attendance policies.

Supplies

Students are required to bring pen/pencil and paper.

Class expectations/Rules

• Show respect to instructor and fellow students at all times.

• Students who desire to use the Internet must read and sign an Internet Acceptable Use Policy.

• Do not use email during instructional time.

• No games may be played on computers.

• Students MUST ask permission before using the printer.

• Daily clean up of “office area” is required.

• Practice safe work habits at all times.

• NO food or drink allowed in classroom.
