There is also a corresponding photo, and the photos are all very, very clear.? There are also 3 big books: Alphabet at Home, Alphabet at School, and Alphabet at the Store.?3.? The New Boy is Lost:? This is a picture novel by Elizabeth Claire.? It can be used with students from grade 3-5 but it could also be used with middle and high school students with limited ability in English.? It is about a boy in grade 7 who moves to the United States from Japan and knows very little English.? He gets lost in New York City on his second day of school.? Basic vocabulary related to school, weather, clothing, numbers, calendar, etc. are introduced. It's a great book not only for teaching English but also for allowing the students to identify with the challenges faced in moving to a new country with different languages, culture, food, etc.?4.? Pretend telephones and Puppets: These are great resource activities for students of all ages! This can encourage interactive speaking activities, and dialogue exchange. For many students, having a conversation (especially after working on various question & answer patterns) using a pretend phone or speaking as a puppet?is way more engaging than just talking to a teacher. It also puts nervous students more at ease, because they feel like it's not THEM talking, it's the puppet. Great speaking activities. ?5.?
