Aims of the Unit

1. To create awareness and generate students’ interest in self-employment

2. To provide basic information for business start-ups

3. To develop the basic principles and processes involved in managing a business enterprise

4. To develop entrepreneurial aptitudes and capabilities

5. To integrate vocational skills and business skills to encourage entrepreneurship among the VTI students

Teaching and Learning Strategies

1. Learning will be student centered with the unit instructor acting as facilitator. At the initial stage the instructor will impart the basic knowledge to the students and gradually the students will be required to apply the enterprising concepts

2. Students will develop basic entrepreneurial skills, participate in discussions, simulate business activities and make presentations, which should be in line with the respective disciplines

3. Educational visits to business establishments and relevant private and government agencies and organizations to give learners more exposure into the world of work

4. Local entrepreneurs will be invited as guest speakers to share their business experiences

5. Learning and assessments throughout will be work related by integrating vocational skills and business skills to develop entrepreneurial awareness
