8th Grade Physical Science and ScienceJohn T. Moore Prep Middle SchoolDr. WeemsScience DailyGeneral GuidelinesWhat is Science Daily? Science Daily is actually the name of a website that provides information to both the scientific and non-scientific communities concerning the current events in science. Why should we care about what is going on in the “Science World?”Although you are only 8th grade junior scientist sitting in Dr. Weems’s class listening to her rant on about elements this and atoms that and especially the branches of chemistry, We are science. And believe it or not, science is all around us. As you are reading this, science is going on in your body, in the chair you are sitting in, on the computer, or the sheet of paper resting in your hands. Science is important and it is important for us as junior scientist to stay up to date about what new developments and or inventions have been discovered or developed that impacts the world around us. Okay Dr. Weems, I’m convinced. What are the guidelines?Every other week you will be responsible to visit one of three websites and with a partner from your lab group choose an article, read it, and answer five questions (I will provide the questions), and present the article for the rest of your peers. Each Science Daily article will be due every other Friday, starting next Friday, August 21st, 2015. You will turn in a copy of your article and a neatly written or typed paragraph or page of your questions that you answered. (With both members of your team on the page). You will not need a cover sheet for this assignment. Please cite your article at the bottom of the page. Please do not plagiarize (Someone poured their all into making the information available for you). If you have any questions please either before, during, or after class. Or by email. No question is too small. Websites: Science Daily - News- , to be answered while reading:Who is the author and where do they come from (institution, company, etc)What is the article about? How does the article relate to physical science (only for the physical science students) or what branch of science does this article fall under (for my science students)? Why should we care about what has been studied or invented? How does this article impact the world? ................
