APEX FREE SAT Subject Test Prep at MIT
Guidance Office
Boston International High School
25 Glen Road
Jamaica Plain, MA, 02130
Dear Guidance Counselor,
Hello, my name is Chris Su and I am a current junior at MIT. I’m writing to you today about a FREE SAT Subject Test program that will be offered at MIT beginning from Saturday, March 13, 2010.
We will be offering classes in biology, chemistry, physics, Math Level 1, and Math Level 2. Classes are taught by qualified MIT undergraduates who have scored above 750 in their respective subjects.
The classes will be held on Saturday afternoons, on MIT’s campus. Students may take up to two subjects during the duration of the program, with the first session running from 1:30-3:00 PM and the second session running from 3:15-4:45 PM. Students taking only one subject may leave at 3:00 PM.
Currently, we anticipate classes to run on all of the following Saturdays: 3/13, 3/20, 3/27, 4/10, 4/17, 4/24, and 5/1. This class schedule conveniently allows students to take their exams on the May or June test date.
You may be curious on the reason why we would want to run a free SAT Subject Test preparation program, so I will attempt to highlight our rationale briefly.
Educational Development Initiative was founded at MIT in February 2009, with the vision of connecting the fields of international development and education. In the Fall of 2009 (last semester), we ran our first SAT Subject Test preparation program, originally with the intention to charge tuition and donate those funds completely to non-profit NGOs working on global education worldwide. However, after a semester working with our students from all over Boston, we realized the growing need for affordable test preparation services to the Boston Metro high school population, and we ultimately decided to refocus our organization goal to firstly provide services for the neighboring Boston Metro high school community.
We hope by eliminating APEX tuition for all of our students, we will be taking a step in the right direction, and it is our hope that this program will flourish into a free service focused on enhancing low-cost educational opportunities available in the Boston area.
Registration details may be found at , and we request interested students to register for our program by Wednesday, March 11, 2010.
I have enclosed some letter-sized posters of the APEX Program. It is our hope that you will be able to assist us in spreading word about our program to any interested students in your school.
Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated, and please do not hesitate to contact us at apex@mit.edu should you require more information on the program.
We are excited to be working with your students!

APEX FREE SAT Subject Test Prep at MIT
Guidance Office
Malden High
77 Salem St
Malden, MA, 02148
