First Baptist Church is eager to help make it a happy, beautiful and memorable experience. It will be most meaningful to you, your families and friends when there is careful planning. We believe these policies to be the most suitable and practical for all concerned, and will enhance the spiritual significance of a Christian wedding. Please read these policies carefully. All persons desiring the use of any of the facilities of the church for weddings and rehearsals will make the arrangements through the church office. Contact the church office at 318-872-1185 to determine the availability of the date you desire on the church calendar and to obtain church wedding policies. The ministers of First Baptist Church are available to assist with the celebration of a Christian marriage. For this reason, it is expected that all aspects of the wedding shall be consistent with the faith of the Church, including the music, content and other features of the ceremony itself, dress, deportment and attitude of the wedding party, and the openness of the bride and groom to receive guidance and counseling with the Pastor. The minister will rehearse and perform the ceremony only after you have had a conference with him. If a minister other than one of the ministers of First Baptist Church is requested to perform the ceremony, this should be discussed with the pastor of this church. However, you are not required to have a minister of this church perform your wedding. The Minister’s fee or special clothing requirements will be the responsibility of the Wedding Party. You will need to personally take care of this fee. Your ceremony may be designed by the Pastor especially for you personally, if you so desire. Any special requests should be made at the time of the first conference with the Pastor. The vows will be in keeping with biblical principles, as well as traditional ideas.Weddings may be scheduled up to one year in advance and no later than 2 months before wedding date. Your reservation will be confirmed after your completed application has been received. The Pastor’s secretary will contact you after receipt of an approved application. Payment of one-half of any church fees is due when wedding application/reservation is completed and submitted to the church office, with the remainder due two weeks before the wedding. Payment is by cash or check only. Checks should be payable to First Baptist Church.Weddings and rehearsals may not be scheduled between December 10 and January 2, the week preceding Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day and weekend, July 4th, Labor Day, or when there are scheduled worship services. Weddings cannot be scheduled earlier than 10:00 am or later than 7:00 pm. Please note when selecting a date for your wedding that seasonal decorations may not be removed to accommodate wedding decorations. If your choice of date falls when the date is not available, we will try to find the best possible alternative. NO WEDDING DATE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED CONFIRMED UNTIL WE HAVE YOUR COMPLETED APPLICATION AND THERE HAS BEEN A CONFERENCE WITH THE PASTOR. FacilitiesThe facilities must be left in a clean and orderly condition. An additional fee will be assessed if facilities are not left as found. The Fellowship Hall may be broken down into various sizes. The hall in its entirety will accommodate approximately 175 guests. If you desire to handle your own reception, the church is happy to furnish much of the equipment. Please make such notations on the facilities and equipment needs sheet. If you have special table or seating arrangements that you plan to use for the rehearsal dinner and/or reception, please indicate such arrangements on “Reception Arrangements” sketch page. For the protection of church facilities, it is necessary to rigidly enforce certain restrictions. Please inform the florist or decorator of these policies. The florist, together with the applicant engaging the facilities, will be responsible for all damages. Additional Guidelines:FBC does not have a catering service. If catering services are used, this must be cleared first on the application. THE CATERING SERVICE MUST CLEARLY UNDERSTAND THAT ANY/ALL EQUIPMENT OF FBC IS TO BE PROPERLY USED, CLEANED AND RETURNED TO THE APPROPRIATE PLACE. KITCHEN FACILITIES MUST BE LEFT IN THE SAME MANNER IN WHICH THEY WERE FOUND.Food and drinks must be kept in the reception or rehearsal dinner area and are not to be carried to other parts of the building. The kitchen director must always be employed regardless if a catering service is used. The use of rice, confetti, etc., is strictly prohibited in the church buildings. Only birdseed may be used in “rice bags,” and its use must be outside and away from building doorways. The church will not be responsible for any personal items lost, damaged, or stolen at the wedding, rehearsal dinner, or reception.Smoking is not permitted anywhere on church property.Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the church premises. A MEMBER OF THE WEDDING PARTY HAVING THE ODOR OF ALCOHOL OR APPEARING TO HAVE CONSUMED ALCOHOL WILL BE ASKED NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE REHEARSAL, WEDDING OR RECEPTION BY THE MINISTERS OR YOUR WEDDING COORDINATOR/DIRECTOR.Music, Sound and VideoMusic: Because a wedding is a worship service, all music before, during and after the service should magnify the glory of God and affirm a Biblical understanding of human love, the marriage relationship, and the love of God that underscores all Christian covenants. Music of secular origin usually is inappropriate. The officiating wedding pastor, in concurrence with the FBC staff, has final approval over any and all music. The fact that you have chosen to have a church wedding indicates your desire to have a worshipful and reverent service with music. Words, melody and instrumental music (including taped music) should appeal to the highest ideals of the Christian faith. Sentimental love songs or current popular songs are more appropriate at the reception. The music staff of FBC is available with suggestions and selections should you need them. FBC reserves the right to prohibit the playing or performance of any music deemed inappropriate to be performed in the church. All music and musicians are subject to approval by the FBC staff. It is the responsibility of the wedding party to pay those musicians engaged for the wedding.Sound & Video System: Operation of the church sound system must be by church staff technicians only. This service is an additional cost and a list of available technicians will be provided upon request.Fee:_$100.00_Guidelines for Flowers and DecorationsPlease be sure that you have a clear understanding of the following requirements and guidelines before planning decoration of the sanctuary. FBC recommends that a florist or any other persons involved in decoration of the sanctuary come to see the facility before planning decorations, during office hours, Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30.No nails or tacks are permitted in connection with decorations.Only dripless candles may be used. When using dripless candles, a proper plastic covering must be used under the candles (to be furnished by florist or applicant). In addition, the floor and carpet must be thoroughly protected. Florists or others decorating the sanctuary will be held directly responsible for the cleaning of wax from all flooring and furniture.Church decorations for Christmas and other church festivals and seasons may not be removed.Pew bows or floral arrangements may not be attached in any way damaging to the finish of church furniture. No pins, glue, nails, staples, florists’ clay, tape, or tacks are permitted. Ribbon wrapped wire or plastic floral clips (made not to mar wood surfaces) may be used.Live birds or other animals are not permitted on the premises.Times for delivery of flowers and other decorations must be arranged through the church office. Decoration of the sanctuary or reception area may not disrupt scheduled church events. All decorations MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE WEDDING/RECEPTION by the florist or families of the bride and groom. If flowers are to be left for Sunday services, please indicate so on application. The custodian on duty is not expected to do the clean-up work for a florist or other decorator.Guidelines for Photography & VideotapingFBC permits photography only under conditions that maintain the reverence and dignity appropriate to a service of worship. The following are offered as suggestions only and all details must be coordinated between the wedding party and the officiating clergy before the wedding.Take as many pictures as possible before the wedding begins. The photographer/videographer must be finished taking pictures 30 minutes prior to the time the wedding begins in order for the lighting to be adjusted and the wedding party released to the director.Picture taking should be limited to no longer than 20 minutes between the wedding in the sanctuary and the reception.A single, designated photographer (usually professional) may take flash photographs in the church sanctuary during entrance and exit only. No other flash photographs are permitted during the service. Photographers should not place equipment on the pews or other church furniture. No picture taking is allowed by professional photographers, family or guests during the actual wedding ceremony. The only exception is pictures are allowed from the balcony, but no flash can be used.Once the ceremony begins, the photographer is to remain in one location for all pictures until the ceremony is over.If previously requested, clergy will be available briefly before or after the ceremony for photographs.Videotaping is allowed under the same conditions as above. Any videotaping must be inconspicuous, so as not to distract attention from the service. The Wedding RehearsalRehearsals are normally held the evening prior to the wedding. We suggest scheduling an hour as early as possible during the day or evening. It is important that all members of the wedding party be present and on time. Apparel worn at the rehearsal should be of good taste and should be no less than casual dress. (Please inform all members of the wedding party.)The following guidelines apply:The wedding rehearsal normally is scheduled between 5:00 and 7:00 pm on the evening preceding the wedding ceremony. This time should be scheduled in advance.FBC clergy and/or the wedding coordinator (if one is being used) will be in charge of the rehearsal. The rehearsal will require approximately one hour. Because the clergy will not be present beyond that scheduled time, it is important to encourage all participants to allow extra time for travel in order to arrive at the church on time. The church closes at 9:00 pm.General Wedding InformationRemember the people who are being of service to you: the Minister, Custodian, Kitchen Director, etc., by not allowing a rehearsal or reception to last beyond a reasonable length of time. It is suggested the length be no longer than 1 ? hours for the rehearsal or reception. This amount of time should include picture taking time following the wedding service. IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT IT WILL BE THE APPLICANT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE ANY ITEMS THAT MAY BE BROKEN, DAMAGED OR MISPLACED. The church closes at 9:00 pm.WEDDING ATTENDANTS: The persons in the wedding party should realize the wedding is a religious worship service. It is important that the dress, behavior and attitude of every member of the wedding party be consistent with the Christian standards of FBC. To avoid embarrassment, it is requested that the bride and groom call these restrictions to the attention of all members of the wedding party. THE BRIDAL PARTY: Because of lack of storage space, it is necessary for someone in the bridal party to see that all personal items be removed immediately after the wedding.WEDDING COORDINATOR/DIRECTOR: First Baptist Church does have a Wedding Coordinator/Director available and your wedding will run much more smoothly if you have a wedding director. The applicant and/or whomever she designates as her wedding director will be responsible for coordinating all wedding plans through the FBC church office and she will assist in the interpretations of FBC wedding policies.Suggested Wedding Coordinator/Director Responsibilities:Coordinate wedding plans, equipment needs, building needs, wedding policies, & possible wedding ceremonies, schedule the arrival of flowers, caterer, cake, etc.2. Assist the minister and wedding party during the rehearsal and ceremony.3. Coordinate wedding policies & procedures and answer any questions wedding party may have.4. Submit to the FBC church office two weeks prior to the wedding, the wedding ceremony the wedding party chooses, plus a copy of the “ Wedding Plans” document.5. Fee for services: May vary, depending upon wedding size. See schedule p. 13.6. Reception or coordinating reception w/ caterer service is available, including planning, preparation and serving. See fee schedule p. 13.7. An independent catering service may be engaged.WEDDING APPLICATION FIRST BAPTIST CHURCHMANSFIELD, LABRIDE-ELECTBride’s name_______________________________________________________________Home Phone______________ Cell Phone_________________Work Phone______________Address____________________________________________________________________Age_______Previous Marriage?________ Widowed? ___________Church Membership?________________________________________________________Parents’ Name______________________________Ph#_____________Cell#___________Parents’ Address____________________________________________________________Church Membership of Parents________________________________________________(Either bride, groom, or parents of the bride or groom must be members of First Baptist Church)GROOM-ELECTGroom’ s name____________________________________________________________Home Phone________________ Cell Phone________________Work Phone_____________Address____________________________________________________________________Age______ Previous Marriage? _______ Widowed? __________Church Membership?________________________________________________________Parents’ Name____________________________Ph#_____________Cell#______________Parents’ Address___________________________________________________________Church Membership of Parents________________________________________________Bride & Groom’s address after marriage_________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________WEDDING PLANSWedding Date __________ Hour ________ Minister ________________________________Rehearsal Date__________ Hour ________ Coordinator_____________________________Reception hostess ____________________________________________________________Organist______________________________Pianist_________________________________Vocalist______________________________ Photographer___________________________Florist_______________________________Caterer _________________________________ # Bridal Attendants __________ # Groom’s Attendants ___________ # Ushers ___________ #Candlelighters _______ Single/Double Ring___________ Ring Bearer ____________________________ Flower Girl ___________________________Special Features______________________________________________________________No. of guests ________(possible formula: invitations x 2 divided by 3 = number guests)Facilities requested: Sanctuary _____Fellowship Hall _____Courtyard Wedding _______Bride’s Room _____Groom’s Room _____ Choir Room (Attendant’s dressing room) ____Kitchen ____Do you plan to leave flowers in church for Sunday’s services? __________________________ I have received and read the First Baptist Church Wedding Policies.Signature:_______________________________________Date:_____________________To confirm wedding date, and to be placed on the calendar, please return to First Baptist Church office.
