Re: NOTIFICATION OF PLANT CLOSURE

Dear Ms. Long:

We regret to inform you that Mohawk Flush Doors, a subsidiary of Masonite Corporation, is ceasing production at its door manufacturing plant located at 402 N. Sheridan Street, South Bend, Indiana, 46619. The entire plant will be closed, and we expect the closure to be permanent. The closure is the result of the continuing decline in U.S. housing starts that has negatively impacted demand for door products.

We anticipate that operations at the plant will be phased out over the next 3 months and all operations at the facility will cease by the end of January 2010. Masonite will continue to employ all workers until their separation on December 23, 2009, or within fourteen days thereafter, though some employees may not be required to work the entire time period. Bumping rights do not exist. A list of the job titles of positions to be affected, and the number of employees in each job classification is attached.

There are approximately 73 employees affected by this decision, 54 of whom are represented by United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 1481. The chief elected officer of the Union is Robert Cruz and his address is 4035 Woodvale Drive, South Bend Indiana, 46614.

For further information, please contact Linda Haas, Regional Human Resource Manager, at (574) 288-4464.

Very Truly Yours,

Donald C. Tyler
