The upward life.

We will move forward; we will grow inward when we are fully surrendered upward.

by Pastor George Lehman

Proverbs 15:24 (LB) – The road of the godly leads upward, leaving hell behind.

Philippians 3:14 (ESV) – I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

One of the most frequent prayers we can pray is:

Psalm 51:10 – Create in me a clean heart oh God; and renew a right spirit within me.

IE. Why did David pray this prayer? His heart was not in the right condition.

Renew: Resume – after an interruption

Renew a right spirit = this prayer requires action to change

Psalm 19:14 (NIV) - May these words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

David prayed this prayer with sincerity. His desire was to please God. (His upward life)

This prayer is key to momentum in our lives to keep our upward relationship right.

There is a supernatural confidence, expectancy and peace that comes, when we have a clean heart, a clear conscience, and a right spirit before God.

Job 17:9 (LB) – the righteous shall move onward and forward; those with pure hearts shall become stronger and stronger.

Forward and Onward = speaks of progress

The truth is:

A pure heart shall become stronger and stronger. It will bring increased strength to your life and your upward relationship.

It’s so important that we are honest with ourselves.

That, in itself, opens many doors for God to move in our hearts and spirit.

Admit where you have gone wrong or where it has led you astray. Then do what you have to do to stay free. (As David did)

Matthew 5:8 – Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God.

Keep true to God’s word. Never be ashamed of doing right.

Don’t compromise your upward relationship to fit in or be accepted on the outward.

Wrong is wrong, even if everyone is doing it.

Right is right, even if only you are doing it.

We already know what is right – make a choice to stick to it.

Quote: No power in the world can keep a first-class child of God down or a third class child of God up.

When it comes to not stretching your life, there’s always a high cost to low living.

Give God the place of supremacy in your heart.

The upward call means death to your ‘self-life’.

Philippians 3:14 (Amp) – I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.

The strength of your upward call consists in finding out the way God is going and going that way.

Psalm 37:23 (NKJV) – The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and He delights in his way.

Proverbs 4:25-26 (LB) – 25 Look straight ahead; don’t even turn your head to look. 26 Watch your step. Stick to the path and be safe.

You need to pay more attention to the things that are working positively and uplifting in your life.

Isaiah 26:3-4 (LB) – 3 He will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in him, whose thoughts turn often to the Lord! 4 Trust in the Lord God always, for in the Lord Jehovah is your everlasting strength.

We can never allow ourselves to ever stop looking upward.

There is so much more of the glory of Jesus we haven’t seen.

We must hunger for this because that’s the image the Holy Spirit seeks to transform us into.

So much:

† Stronger and stronger.

† Deeper and deeper

† Fruit, more fruit and abundant fruit

† Progress and growth.

If you desire for God to be pleased with you until the end of your days….

…keep looking upward.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NIV) – Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.

The journey is finished only when you’re finished.
