Let’s review the animals we learned about last week:Fish Sea horse Sea star Today we are going to lean about the Sea Turtle. Please watch: turtles:They live in the water but can also live on land.They lay their eggs in the sand. They have a hard shell for protection. They can put their head and feet in their shell. There are small and big sea turtles. Let’s make a sea turtle!Materials:Paper plate (or allow your child to cut out a circle)Tissue paper or crayons GlueScissors Construction paperDirections: Display the picture of the turtle and review how they look. Have your child decorate/color the shell of the turtle. Trace the head, feet and tail and encourage your child to cut it out (practice scissors skills) Using the visual, have your child assemble the parts to create a turtle. **Remember it does not have to be perfect. Let your child do the work and have fun with it. MATH- This week we will focus on number 9. 1. Have your child count household items such as: beans, seeds, cereal, pasta, and toys.2. Request a number of items and have your child count and correspond with the items. 3. Write out the numbers 1-9 and have your child choose a number, identify it, and count object or draw pictures to correspond with the number. Please watch:Clackety Clack (The Crab Song) have a thick hard shell (just like the sea turtle!) They have 10 legs ( 2 of them are claws) Most crabs walk sidewaysSome crabs live in water and some live on land We can find crabs at the beach in the sand near the water. Some crabs can swim. Let’s make a crab!Materials:Paper plates Crayons Scissors Glue Construction paperDirections:Color both sides of the paper plate red. Fold the paper plate in half. Explain that this is the shell for the crab. Have your child cut out 10 strips of red paper. Explain that they will represent the legs. Glue the legs to the inside of the paper plate (5 on each side) Using a marker/crayon encourage your child to draw eyes for the crab. **Remember it does not have to be perfect. Let your child do the work and have fun with it. Dolphins live in the waterThey swim by moving their tails up and down. Dolphins CANNOT breathe underwater. They breathe from a blowhole at top of their heads. Dolphins have great eyesight and hearing. They are very smart. Dolphins talk using a clicking and whistling sound.Please Listen: are very friendly and like to play. They can jump really high. Octopus:Have 2 eyes and a round head. Have 8 long limbs called tentacles Their tentacles have suckers on them. (Just like the sea star!)They can change color!They have soft squishy bodies which allow them to squeeze through tight spaces.
