0000Dear Parents:Our English classes are participating in the Franklin County BYOT (Bring Your Own Technology) initiative. You should already have seen a permission form for your student to participate in this school-wide effort to make 21st Century learning accessible to all of our students. As part of that effort, we encourage our students to use their own cell phones, iPods, MP3 players, iPads, Nooks, Kindles and other devices in class. Students who do not own a personal device will have an opportunity to share with classmates or use devices owned by the school. No child is required to have a device, but all students are welcome to bring and use their devices if they have one. Your child is not making it up when they tell you that we want them to be able to use personal technology in class! We would also like them to bring their own headphones/earbuds if they have them. Again, students who don’t have headphones/earbuds will be able to use a set owned by the classroom. If your student is bringing his or her own device to school for instructional use, we ask that you allow them to download these free Apps from iTunes or other App provider. We will use these Apps on a regular basis in class. We will NEVER ask your child to purchase an App for class. Please check the parent Edmodo letter for information about how you can use Edmodo and the Edmodo App at home to help your student. Also, if you have not downloaded the Infinite Campus App onto your phone, please do so. It will notify you every time your child has a grade posted. If we need to add more Apps as the year progresses, we will post them in the Edmodo classroom and on our teacher page on the school website. Check there often to find out what we’re doing in class.Thank you!Linda Frederick RemindReceive important reminders about upcoming deadlines, tests and assignments.DriveGoogle account for creation and storage of documents, presentations and more.
