| |Happy holidays! |
|Points to Note |Literacy – When your child is completing their written work encourage them to sound out words as best as they can. Some words are tricky|
| |and cannot be sounded out. They are introduced as “tricky words” in P1, and are reinforced in P2. A tricky word mat has been sent home |
| |with your child, which includes all the tricky words covered so far this year. In sentence building, capital letters and full stops are |
| |not expected in P1 but are formally taught in P2. Encourage your child to write left to right, always putting a finger space between |
| |words; they are not expected to write on lines in P1. |
| | |
| |Phonics – These are sounds your child has previously learnt in class. The aim is to revise the spoken sound and formation, and progress |
| |onto making words with these sounds. |
| | |
| |Maths Box – The formation of numbers 1, 4 and 9 on the digit cards may be different to the way your child has learnt them. Please feel |
| |free to add in a homemade digit card if this helps your child. |
