Pre - K April 2020 Dear Parents,Hopefully this letter finds you all healthy and well! We miss your kiddos more than words can express, and have LOVED getting to see some of their smiling, busy, happy faces on our Facebook page we created for our Pre-K students and families. We will continue to add activities, ideas, songs and pictures and please continue to share pics and videos or your child. We are loving it and the kids are loving seeing their friends! This month our themes will be rainbows, Easter, kites and wind, and caring for our Earth. We will try and post some ideas and that go along with our themes. Please remember to continue having your child practice writing their name. Names should be written with an uppercase letter followed by lowercase letters. Times are different, unknown, challenging, chaotic and kinda scary right now. Working, parenting and teaching are 3 different jobs. Be sure to balance and just do what you can! Routine is important when life goes a bit topsy-turvy -- for kiddos and adults. We need structure, which in turn helps us to feel safe, reducing that anxious feeling many children and adults are carrying around right now. Kidlutions has a great article pertaining to routines which includes a printable: When our children are anxious, they may not be able to name the feeling, and even if they can, they may not be able to tell us why they are feeling it. PBS Kids offers a Guess the Feeling Game which can generate some conversation: Scholastic offers a quick online game for older kiddos as well: Once you’ve played the game, consider having a conversation with your child. Ask them which feeling best fits how they are feeling right now. Ask them when they started having that feeling, what was happening when they started feeling it. This can help pinpoint the “why” of the feeling. Normalize the feeling by sharing a time you felt that way too. Then offer ways to help them feel better (if they share a negative feeling.) Hopefully you find some of our sites and info we share helpful. Be safe and take care ~ Melissa and Ashley ................
