? The first impression students will have of their

teacher is determined by their outfit

? Respect is better attained if a teacher's

wardrobe does not resemble that of a student

? Neat grooming and professional wear will

indicate the difference between the teacher and the students

? Having a consistent appearance will set a

standard for the students in relation to how a person should dress for school and/or the workplace

Work Ethic

? Time management is key to success in the

classroom

? A teacher should always be on time, because it

is important for students to see, as well as the administration

? Lesson planning, assignment grading, and any

other paperwork should be completed in a timely manner

? Conducting day-to-day activities in adherence

to school policies and regulations is absolutely necessary

With Colleagues

? Use appropriate language when speaking to co-

workers and keep conversation professional

? Find opportunities to collaborate on teaching

strategies and curriculum planning

? Work together to maintain a safe learning

environment for the students

With Students

? Communicate in a positive manner as much as

possible

? Avoid using overly friendly language because

students have less inclination to follow directions made by a teacher they think they are friends with

? Strive to create all-inclusive lesson plans that

are respective to students individual needs

Professional Development

? With the onset of technological advancement,

it is imperative that teachers do not feel complacent with already established knowledge

? Teachers should take an active role in learning

new skills by attending courses, seminars, or conferences

? New generations of students will be ushered

repeatedly throughout a teachers career, so it is important to do what is necessary to stay current
