Introduction

1 PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT QUALITY MANAGEMENT PLAN

THE PROJECT QUALITY MANAGEMENT PLAN DOCUMENTS THE NECESSARY INFORMATION REQUIRED TO EFFECTIVELY MANAGE PROJECT QUALITY FROM PROJECT PLANNING TO DELIVERY. IT DEFINES A PROJECT’S QUALITY POLICIES, PROCEDURES, CRITERIA FOR AND AREAS OF APPLICATION, AND ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES.

The Project Quality Management Plan is created during the Planning Phase of the project. Its intended audience is the project manager, project team, project sponsor and any senior leaders whose support is needed to carry out the plan.

The purpose of the Team Excel quality plan is to ensure that our product; a quick reference guide to the PMBOK 4th edition, is concise to the PMBOK guide itself, easy to navigate, and the content is spellchecked for accuracy. Also we want to ensure the supporting documentation is consistent and spellchecked as well.

PROJECT QUALITY MANAGEMENT

AT THE HIGHEST OF LEVELS QUALITY MANAGEMENT INVOLVES PLANNING, DOING, CHECKING, AND ACTING TO IMPROVE PROJECT QUALITY STANDARDS. PMI PMBOK BREAKS THE PRACTICE OF QUALITY MANAGEMENT INTO THREE PROCESS GROUPS: QUALITY PLANNING (QP), QUALITY ASSURANCE (QA) AND QUALITY CONTROL (QC). THE FOLLOWING SECTIONS DEFINE HOW THIS PROJECT WILL APPLY EACH OF THESE PRACTICE GROUPS TO DEFINE, MONITOR AND CONTROL QUALITY STANDARDS.

1 Quality Planning

• THE PRIMARY STANDARD OF THE PRODUCT AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION IS THE STANDARDS AS DESCRIBED IN THE 4TH PMBOK GUIDE. WE WILL SATISFY THIS BY REVISION AND REWORK WHEN IT IS DETERMINED THE STANDARDS ARE NOT BEING MET.

• Quality in the product itself is determined by a standard of ease of navigation. We will monitor this in 2 ways; monitoring size of content files and testing the product in the field.

1 Define Project Quality

Our standards for our product are to provide a quick, easy to navigate web application that is a quick reference guide for PMBOK 4th edition. Our customers are project managers, stakeholders and sponsors. We expect that our customers will be able to use the product via the internet and access from any enabled smartphone. The information should be concise and in accordance to the standard method as prescribed in the PMBOK. The goal is to make an application that can be used in the construction field. Our project quality standard is to provide clear, accurate information that is consistent and easy to understand.

2 Measure Project Quality

The time frame for this project begins with the assignment in April and ends June 20th, 2011. During this time, the team will meet for weekly in class discussions and review any issues that arise. They will communicate any interm concerns effectively via group email

• Weekly review of content for product and documentation, group discussion to follow in regards to any change requests needed

• Observe similar applications from various sources to ensure our format is on track

• Review by category of data that is uploaded and field testing to ensure there is no significant time delay while navigating the site. Weekly class discussion pertaining to results.

2 Quality Assurance

ACTIONS: CONTENT REVIEW: USE OF SPELL CHECK TO DETERMINE ANY ERRORS, REVIEW OF PMBOK TO ENSURE CONTENT IS ACCURATE, FIELD TESTS TO ENSURE EASE OF USE. MEASURES ARE THE INDIVIDUAL REPORTS FROM THE TEAM AUDITORS.

1 Analyze Project Quality

Quality of the project meets deliverables. It is easy and fast to navigate. Language is clear and accurate. Content is in compliance with PMBOK 4th edition.

2 Improve Project Quality

Quality could have been better early on, if the there was a specific schedule earlier on in the project.

3 Quality Control
