College Essay Assignment

You will turn in two rough drafts of college essays. Then you will pick one of the rough drafts to edit, polish, and type into Naviance. Please remember that all DPS students must submit a college essay to Naviance before they can graduate. This means you will write two different essays.

Essay Rough Draft

-due Thursday, February 5, 2014

-must be at least 300 words; may be typed or hand-written

-must use one of the six “Common Application Essay Prompts” OR may address a college or scholarship essay prompt of your choice

-grammar and sentences do not have to be perfect; just get your ideas down!

-worth 40 points for a completion grade

Class on Thursday, February 5, 2014 – I will first check that you have the rough draft of your second essay, and then you will revise and edit with your partner.

You will type your essay and print or email a final copy to submit to me AND you will copy and paste this essay in Naviance. I will show you where you will type this. There will be no class time given for this, so you will need to access a computer on your own. The final copy of your essay is due on Thursday, February 19, 2014. You may email or turn in a paper copy in class that day.
