COSMETOLOGY FACIALIST SPECIALISTEssential Knowledge and Skills of the course:The purpose of this course is to prepare the student with the knowledge and skills needed to obtain a facial specialist license. Students must obtain a passing grade on the facial specialist test required by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations to receive a facial specialist license.Description of the specific student needs this course is designed to meet:The facial specialist program is designed to prepare the student with the knowledge and skills required to enter the workplace as an entry-level facial specialist. Students are required to complete 750 hours which are achieved through the completion of modules designed for this program.Major resources and materials to be used in this course:Milady’s Standard Esthetics Hardcover, Student Workbook and Exam ReviewRequired activities and sample optional activities to be used:Instruction is designed to qualify students for employment as a specialist in skin care, make-up application and hair removal. Upon completion of the required hours incorporated into the modules of the course and the completion of 100 practical services, students will be eligible to take the state test required by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation at a PSI testing facility. It is the student responsibility to pay any and all fees required for testing purposes.Methods for evaluating student outcomes:The student’s progress with be monitored by the instructor by evaluation and testing. Practical services will also be monitored and document using a practical completion chart to keep take of all services performed by the students.Required qualifications of teachers:The teacher of any cosmetology program must hold an Instructor’s license required by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations as well as a Bachelor’s degree and appropriate teaching certification required by TEA.Additional information (optional):This program is a two period class for the entire school year with a total of 2 credits earned, or a 1 period class for 2 consecutive school years. ................
