Pathways to Public Health – PUBH 6080FAQs for Non-MPH Graduate StudentsIn order to comply with standards set by CEPH for our non-MPH program curriculum, students who enroll in any graduate program in the GWSPH without a prior Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from an accredited school or program of public health will be required to successfully pass the zero-credit, online course Pathways to Public Health (PUBH 6080). There is no fee for this course. The course must be completed within the term enrolled. It is a required course for graduation. Accessing Pathways to Public HealthYou can access PUBH 6080 on the 2GW learning management system (LMS): Student Success with any login or user issues. studentsuccess@publichealthonline.gwu.edu1-877-494-6740To view the course - click the Mortar Board icon on the left hand side of the screen .All courses you are associated with will appear when you click “view all” at the top of the screen.You can access the units of the course by clicking “coursework”.You must complete an end of unit quiz for each module, with a passing grade of 80%.Quizzes are located in the “End of Week / Unit Quizzes” folder.To view your quiz grades:You must navigate to the individual quiz and click the “review” link at the bottom of the screen.You WILL NOT be able to view quiz grades by clicking “gradebook”.You must complete all unit quizzes with a passing score of 80% by the end of the academic term in which you enrolled in the course. PUBH 6080 Course Policies:DegreeMap will indicate the requirement for PUBH 6080- Pathways to Public Health. Check with your Program Director if there is a specific class in your program curriculum associated with the Pathways to Public Health course that meets the requirement. If none specified, students are required to complete within their first Academic Year (fall/spring/summer).Find PUBH 6080 in the GW Schedule of Classes under ONLINE Public Health courses. Find the section that corresponds with your program and complete registration (sections are designated at the end of this document). Registration after the regular registration period can be completed via RTF.Once registered, you will receive information (approximately 2 weeks prior to the start of the term) directly from 2U Student Success, our 3rd party online vendor, regarding using the LMS platform. For students who are not already enrolled in online programs, this information from Student Success will be your first introduction on how to how to log in and how to access the course. Technical questions about the course may be directed to the online MPH Advisors at mphadvising@gwu.edu.This free, self-paced, online course must be completed within the semester you enroll. You can complete the course at your own pace during the term. (Plan for an average of 25-35 minutes to complete each unit.) There are 12 units. You may review lectures repeatedly if so desired. Lecture slides are also available to you to print via the LMS, if so desired.Each unit will end with a 4-6 question quiz. A passing score is required on each unit quiz- 80% or higher. You may retake a unit quiz as many times as necessary.Your Program Director will enter a grade of CR at the end of the term if successfully completed. PUBH 6080 must be competed in the term registered.Your DegreeMap will reflect this grade shortly thereafter and thus indicate this requirement has been met.*Approximately one month before matriculation, the Admissions department will identify incoming non-MPH graduate students who are eligible to waive PUBH 6080. Upon confirmation that the student has already earned an MPH degree from an accredited School or Program of Public Health, the Admissions department will submit a waiver directly to the Office of Student Records to acknowledge that this requirement has already been met.
