POSITION DESCRIPTIONPosition Title: TREASURER, Mill Creek Parish United Methodist ChurchEmployment Status: Part-timeLast Update: November 7, 2020 --tbwDescriptionThe Treasurer reports to the Sr. Pastor and provides accurate and timely disbursement of and accounting for church finances in cooperation with the Sr. Pastor and the Finance Committee. The Treasurer demonstrates good stewardship of the resources God has provided in performing duties and responsibilities in a manner that glorifies Jesus Christ and furthers the mission and ministry of Mill Creek Parish United Methodist Church.General Duties and ResponsibilitiesUsing QuickBooks, track all disbursements, deposits, transfers, invoicing, and liabilities associated with the Chart of Accounts. Prepare and cut checks for signature to pay the authorized bills of the church, including payroll.Process, track, and acknowledge special or designated donations/memorials in QuickBooks, tracking their implementation as funds are disbursed for their intended use by donors.Effectively implement procedures outlined by the Finance Committee, Stewardship Team, Sr. Pastor, and Staff Parish Relations CommitteeExhibit strong integrity and confidentiality regarding pledge and contributionsPerform additional duties as assigned by the Sr. Pastor.Work with the Church’s Financial Secretary to accurately record in QuickBooks the weekly offering deposits. Provide the Financial Secretary any electronic giving records deposited in Church asset accounts for proper donor/giving documentation.Supervise cash balances in asset accounts to ensure adequate cash is maintained for Church operations.Oversee the payroll process payroll and tax deposits processed by the Office Manager.Prepare and reconcile bank statements.Post end-of-the month journal entries, print, and file financial reports. Participate in Finance Committee meeting as a non-voting member.Prepare and submit federal and state payroll tax reports timely.Provide updated budget reports to appropriate staff and ministry leaders on a quarterly basis.Post congregational pledges.Order, and prepare contribution envelopes.Prepare and mail tax and employee statements as required by lawSubmit monthly/quarterly/annual tax information for Federal, State and local taxesAssist with compilation and entry of financial budget with the Church’s softwareOversee the production of appropriate reports for Charge and Annual Conference by the Office ManagerMinimum Required Skills QualificationsExcellent organization and time management skillsThorough knowledge of budgeting, accounting and financial managementTechnical ability to work with computers (Windows, MS Word, Excel, email), financial software (QuickBooks), Payroll system and office equipment (copying and scanning)Excellent people skills, attention to both precision and accuracy, reliability and punctuality requiredMust pass criminal background checkPreferred SkillsAA Degree in accounting or financial management, or equivalent experience ................
